(The titles aren't linked to the chapters. I just felt like they matched the theme of my book so just because it says marijuana doesn't mean that she's using it in this chapter.)

She excitedly fastened my pace as she heard her footsteps against the wet asphalt while the rain was falling hard. Thank god she thought about bringing her umbrella since she saw grey clouds forming themselves earlier during the day. As expected, her instincts failed to deceive her. Today was the first day of the month, meaning that her drug dealer was at the spot for her monthly refill.

After a few minutes, she recognized the stop sign with graffitis all over it. She was near. The spot was a dark alley that no one went by due to the many things that could happen in this neighbourhood.

She wasn't scared even though she should be. In fact, Renee was never scared. Whether it was a spider or death. For someone who almost went to the other side herself, an alley won't intimidate her. She hurried to the end of the alley, which was a cul-de-sac and met with the familiar pair of hazel eyes, Spark.

Spark was her drug dealer. He was the only one she could consider as a friend or family. Of course, it wasn't his real name but that's what the people in the streets called him since he was a child and he stuck with that nickname.

Spark saw and automatically recognized Renee. He always wondered why a beautiful and smart girl like her would want to get involved with drugs. He wasn't complaining though, he had a family to feed and a house to pay.

He started to take the bag containing her drugs with out forgetting to look towards the entrance of the alleyway making sure no one was here while Renee was taking out her money. He couldn't afford going to jail. Not now, not ever.

She always gave him a little more money knowing his situation. It didn't bother her since the amount of money she gained from her job was enough to pay her rent, her food, her drugs and other necessities.

Once the exchange was done, they did like usual, she goes back to the street while Spark slightly shout: '' Be careful!''.

She doesn't respond and safely went her way home.

The way back home wasn't so long. She enjoyed it. The calm, the silence, the darkness with only the city lights as primary source of lightning.

She clutched to her bag as she unlocked the door to her apartment and entered closing it behind her making sure to lock it as well.

She walked her way to her bathroom and started to undress herself and prepare her shower.

Not too hot, not too cold.

Just how she liked it.

She got in and spent about 20 minutes in the shower before walking out of her bathroom wrapped in her towel. She got dressed in her oversized shirt who one belonged to someone dear to her and immediately found herself in her stash looking for her Xanax pills.

Found it.

She took one out of the pill container and went on her bed.

She took the Xanny and put it in her mouth, swallowing it whole.

Within an hour, she suddenly went into a trance. The moment she craved for almost seventy two hours had come. The numbness. The way she forgets about the world we live in. The way she can escape her thoughts and reality.

I guess it's the time to finally introduce myself huh.

My name is Renee. Renee Lee Carter.
Daughter of Marie Anne and Rayshaun Adonis Carter. Two pieces of shit that I unfortunately get to call parents. What did they do? That's a conversation for another day.

I am a 21 year old college dropout and I, as you can witness, do drugs. What do I do for a living? That's none of your concern but you will unfortunately find out eventually.

Why do I do drugs?
For two simple reasons: My parents and because I like how they make me feel. Weed couldn't provide for my need anymore so I needed something stronger, something that would be able to send me over the edge. Some people may consider me as an addict but I do not see it that way. They can say whatever they want, I know that I am not addicted. I love it although I wish I never got into them in the first place since I lost my scholarship and all of my friends because of it. I know that it can kill me but imagine me caring. Leaving this world would do me a favour. If I die, I die and that's it.

If it's meant to be then it'll be.

She stood there, staring into time and space for what seems to be days until she fell into a deep slumber.

Sweet Dreams Renee...
