Renee walked in the loud building with her bag and made her way to the lockers. She made sure to greet the housemother before entering the room.Like always, the locker was filled with females barely dressed gossiping about.. men and money.
The usual
She rolled her eyes as she started getting dressed. Renee didn't mind doing this job but she hated her co-workers. She didn't have anything against them but they just tend to annoy her constantly. Just the sound of their high pitched voice made her want to punch someone in the throat but she obviously had to put up with it if she wanted to get her money. That was one of the reasons as to why she became a pole dancer. Money. The primary source to all of our issues. That's how today's society is structured, based on your income. The more you have, the more status you gain and the higher you are in this crappy hierarchy.
You got this Renee just stay focused. Get that bag and that bag only.
That was what she liked about the club. Nobody could get in the way of you getting your paycheck.
She eventually slipped on her attire for the night and went towards the poles. She stood behind the curtain waiting for her turn.
"Next we have, Renee."
She took a deep breath and began to smile. A round of applause and cheers of the mass of men emerged through the crowd as she walked on stage after getting called.
A few hours later...
6:00
She was exhausted. The only thing on her mind was her on her comfortable bed high off her drugs. Tonight was a good one. Thankfully. Recently, the club hasn't been doing so well. The clientele stopped coming except for their usual customers. Rumours began to spread about the Sapphire club closing. Renee quickly shook that thought out head as she began to count the bills. She made about thirteen hundred dollars and that's without counting the money she had to pay the housemother. Of course, she hid part of the amount she gained from her night.
They really trying to rob us for real.
She left the building , went to her bus stop and looked around as she impatiently waited for her ride home to come.
It was peacefully raining. The sound of the water dripping on the ground one by one was relaxing. Her head against the glass, she let herself drown in the faint noise in her earphones.
...
After almost half an hour, she finally arrived at her apartment. She knew that it was early in the morning but it was never too early or too late for her to get high. It was always the right moment.
She was in the mood for cocaine. So she hurried her way towards her stash and picked out the white powder continued in a small ziplock bag.
She opened it and put a small quantity of the drug on her kitchen counter. She took out her old student ID and made two lines of the substance, rolled a one dollar bill and sniffed both lines.
She threw her head back as she got rid of the excess of powder on her nose with her index finger. She went to her bedroom and laid there, on her bed. She slowly opened her mouth and said those words:
"Alexa, play Broken Clocks by SZA"
The beautiful melody erupted from her speakers at full volume.
I don't want this to end
There it was. That's what she thought referring to her state of pure ecstasy. She wanted to feel this way all the time; laying down and think of absolutely nothing important. The feeling like she was the only one in this world and nobody would give a flying f*ck. Nobody did ever care about her but she had the power to not be affected by her solitude.
And that was the beauty of it in the eyes of Renee.
