The last half of my school day was less eventful... Thankfully.
"Hey Arden, waiting on someone?" Lily asked, blowing a stray blonde hair away from her face.
"No." i blurred out which earned a strange look from her but shrugged her shoulders.
"A dick appointment, i get it" She said with a wave of her polished hand."just don't get pregnant ..or do, i've always wanted a god baby."
"NO!" I exclaimed, feeling my face turn red.
She grinned at me. "Okayy, see you tomorrow."
Lily winked at me before walking away off in the direction of her car.
"Its not what you think!" I called out to her.
She chuckled.
"Sureeee." She said in a sing song voice over her shoulder before unlocking her car.
She sat in the driver's side, started the engine, threw a peace sign out the window and drove off.
"Hey."
I turned and saw Evan standing there with his hands in his pockets.
"So what's the plan?" I asked, following to his jeep.
He unlocked it, opening the passenger side door for me, waiting for me to get in.
A strange gesture.
When I got in his jeep, he closed the door and rounded the vehicle to get in himself.
"I don't know, I didn't really have a plan. I didn't even think I'd get this far" He chuckled as put the vehicle in reserve and pulled out onto the road.
This is weird.
Me... hanging out with Evan.
He was saying something but i got distracted looking at him.
He always had this boyish charm about him almost like he could do no wrong but I knew better.
"I just wanted to hang out with you." Evan said now, glancing at me briefly before turning his eyes back to the road.
"Why though? Why now?" I asked.
He sighed.
"I dont know really, after what happened with my father...I guess I wanted to reconnect with those who brought me some of joy at some point. " Evan said softly, a sad smile on his face.
"I get it.."I mumbled.
We fell into silence with me staring at the window as Evan drove down the street.
"Hey, you hungry?" Evan asked.
"I could eat."
"Goodie. I found this cafe a few days ago."
After several minutes of silence, we reached our destination and as I got out of the jeep, It occurred to me that this is Oliver's family cafe.
If i had known this is where Evan was taking me, i would've picked a different place but i guess we are here already.
Evan held the door open for me as I passed through.
"Hey welcome to-" Oliver abruptly stopped talking, noticing who was standing there.
He gazed at me for a moment before a small smile came across his face then his eyes drifted to Evan.
"Table for 2 I presume." Oliver said already walking away, which made us scramble to catch up with him.
He stopped by a booth, placing two menus on the table before turning to us.
"I'll back in a few minutes to take your order." He said, turning and walking away to help someone else.
I starced at him as he walked away, confused.
"What?" Evan asked now, probably noticing the look on my face.
"Um.. nothing." I sat beside him, our hands brushing.
"Okay then, have you been here before?." He asked.
"No."
Why did I just lie? No idea.
Thankfully Evan didn't say anything more about it.
We were chatting and laughed, mostly about nothing in particular and I remember how I felt around Evan.
He was the type to keep you happy and laughing.
A red haired women took our order, not Oliver which confused me abit but I just figured he had something to do.
"I'm going to the rest room really quick okay?"I said as I stood up.
"Okay, dont fall in." Evan smirked up at me.
I rolled my eyes, walking off in the direction of the bathroom.
I pushed open the door abit, peeking my head in before stepping into the hallway.
A door swung open to my left and Oliver stepped out but we both froze when saw each other.
"I didn't know you had a boyfriend ." Oliver said, a blank on his face.
"I don't." I stated.
"Oh?" He mused, taking a step towards me. "Looks like a date from where I'm standing."
"Its not."
"Really?"
"Yes, we are just friends hanging out."
He hummed lowly. "Really? Well friends don't look at friends like that."
Oliver smirked, walking past me.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
I was beyond confused.
He shrugged, the smirk still clear on his face.
"Oh nothing Arden." He chuckled, exiting the hallway through the same door I entered through.
I stood there, dumbfounded.
"You were gone awhile, is everything okay?" Evan stated when I finally returned to the table.
"I'm fine." I replied quickly.
Our order was there when I returned.
I thought about what Oliver said.
Was this a date?
I don't like use my gift in this manner but this maybe the only way for me to find out.
I straightened up a bit, focusing on Evan, reading his mind.
'She's so beautiful and I don't think she even knows that. This pie is delicious to, apple I think I ordered.' Evan thought.
A small smile tugged on my lips at the use of the term of the word beautiful.
'I've been such a shit friend to her when I didn't even mean to. Her skin looks so soft, I just want to touch her but that would be weird..wouldn't it? Maybe if I just brush her, she wouldn't think anything by it.'
Evan shifting beside me,brushing me in the process.
'I guess that worked but I want to really touch her, kiss her maybe. She wouldn't dare just let me kiss her, ugh I hate myself so much for treating her like that' Evan thought.
He wants to kiss me... I wasn't prepared to hear that.
I didn't think Evan ever felt that way about me.
I nodded at what he said.
We were chatting this whole time but his mind and mouth weren't on the same page.
I didn't know how react. This was a reason why I don't use my powers in this way, I usually learn information i shouldn't.
'Her hand is right there, touch it...I really shouldn't, I can't just drop my feelings on her like that. That will scare her and I dont want her to run from me again but.. I've been holding on to these emotions for years, but we just started back speaking today.. I can't drop that on her-'
I rested my hand ontop his.
He abruptly stopped speaking and he looked at me in surprise.
His thoughts were all over the place.
"Your hand is warm." I smiled as I entwined our fingers together and pulled myself abit closer to him. I guess to easy his mind abit, I did what he was too scared to do.
I don't mind really, I kinda always felt something towards Evan since we were kids but It was surprising to know that he felt the same.
'She's touching me... I was right her skin is still soft. What do I do now? ... do nothing, just sit here and enjoy this ' Evan thought.
And that's what we did, sat there and talked.
I wasn't sure how much time passed but it was dark outside.
Evan noticed this also.
"Oh it's dark outside which means I should really be taking you home." Evan sighed.
We stood up, making our way to the counter.
"I'll pay." Evan stated when I went to grab my purse.
"Are you sure? It's no problem." I said
"I'm sure." He winked at me, as he grabbed his wallet from his back pocket and took out some cash, handing it to waitress.
I took this moment to look around for Oliver but he was no where to be seen.
Evan lead us out of the cafe back to his jeep.
We climbed in and he drove off in the direction of my house.
"Whose car is that?" Evan asked as we got closer.
"Oh my uncle, he's staying with me for a while." I said.
Evan looked confused.
Then I remembered in all the chatting we did earlier, I forgot to mention my parents possible divorce.
"My parents are going on a trip for a while so he's staying with me." I added.
"Oh okay then." He nodded, slowly the vehicle to a stop in front my house.
A few lights were on so I figured my uncle was home from work.
I stepped out the jeep, even before Evan got out.
"I had a nice evening." He said, rubbing behind his neck, which his muscles clench. He was fairly buff but being the captain of the football team would do that to you.
"Likewise."
We stepped around each other, but not breaking eye contact.
He hesitated like he wanted to say something but then objected against it.
"I'll see you at school tomorrow." He took a step back, smiled at me and climbed back into his jeep.
I walked towards my door but Evan hadn't driven off yet.
I unlocked the door and heard the jeep engine start.
I looked back to tell him it was okay to leave but he jumped out of the still on vehicle and ran up to me but before I could react, he grabbed my face and kissed me.
My body relaxed and I kissed him back.
It was filled with longing, passion, lust.
The kiss deepened more if that was even possible and we just melted into each other.
It felt like euphoria.
He pulled back, breathing heavily as he starced at me.
There was so much intensity on his face that a shiver went down my body.
"I'm sorry." He mumbled.
"Don't be..." I said.
He took a deep breath and nodded, stepping away from me.
I watched him get back into his jeep and drive off.
I stepped inside my house to be greeted by my uncle who had this goofy smile on his face with his hands folded over his massive chest like he was trying to be intimidating.
"What?" I asked.
"Do you know what time it is young lady?" He asked.
I rolled my eyes. "Yes and your point?"
He shrugged.
"I dont really have a point but isn't that what parents usually say?"
"Yes?.."
Okay he was confusing me now.
He clasped his hands together.
"I made meatballs." He walked away." Oh and your parents are gone and they send alots of kisses and hugs."
I knew they would be gone before I got home, I wasn't to bothered by it.
I dropped my backpack on the floor near the door and kicked off my sneakers.
"I won't ask too much about your love life."My uncle Eli said as I followed him into the kitchen. "Just no babies okay?"
I felt my face got bright red." You saw that?"
"Yes, I did." Eli grinned. "I'm not your father so I won't scold you for being out late without any notice and having a full makeout session on the front porch but like I said, no babies."
"I can promise you that." I said.
"Thank you. Now how about some junk food and anime before bed?"
I grinned at him.
"That's even a question?!"
