Talent. I've never known a good definition, in life, for this word. But I was always told that I had talent, even though they didn't see anything that actually demonstrated it. Why do we connect talent and lack of beauty? Is it because there are beautiful people who have never had talent and have space and success just by being part of a specific standard imposed by society? Is talent natural or can it be created? I know beautiful and talented people. We need to realize that beauty is something completely relative. What seems beautiful to me may not seem to you, and vice versa. When I was younger, a teacher told me that writing is practical and I realized that everything is practical. Even love. When you fall in love, you begin to train your eyes and notice things that once passed unnoticed. At first what catches your attention is like a side effect of passion. You only notice by being in love. Over time you perceive them on purpose, because you want to memorize every single detail. Each one of them matters. Love is to exercise empathy, kindness and calm. Love is a practical thing!
Maybe in a fight things may go out without thinking. But that's where we need to remember that words hurt and have a huge weight. And it's what we do, with this information in mind, that defines the direction of our relationships. I believe that's the emotional maturity that so many people talk about..
Moments of impact. Moments of impact are those that change things irremediably. After them there is no turning back. A look, a song, a touch and even an accident. It is the second that changes everything. The shooting star, a smile. It is when two worlds collide, worlds that seemed, to the naked eye, very different, but in the end add more than seemed to remain.
Flashback
The doctor was very tired that day and was no where near the end of her shift. She had already attended some pregnant women in prenatal care and performed three deliveries, but the hours didn't seem to pass. When she thought about taking a breathe, she got an emergency call. There had been an accident near the hospital and the aid car was bringing a pregnant woman who needed urgent surgery for her baby to survive.
The firefighter was anxious that Saturday morning. She had summoned everyone from the station to a camping trip and even noticing the general dismay she wanted to believe that when they arrived everyone would change their mind. She prepared all her things and sent a message to her father. Without delay the answer came: "You are the captain, kiddo." She smiled and joined her team.
In romantic comedies the audience first meets one character and then the other. And that can take the first few minutes of the movie. And suddenly, we see both characters together. It's the second, in this case, that their world collides for the first time. One living in the moment and the other trying to master time.
A lot of hours passed since her emergency patient came to the hospital and there she was getting another call, but at least that was just routine. The woman must have been about 25 years old and was in her first pregnancy. It was nothing serious, actually. Just routine. Greys Sloan Memorial was in complete chaos that day. Many accidents, routine visits and even two victims of a bear attack had been brought to the hospital. One of them without a nose.
The firefighter ran as fast as she could to reach the aid car, but it had been in vain. They had just left when she set foot on the road. She called all her team and left without delay for the hospital. The man's nose had been found, but it needed to be rushed so that there was a chance of being replaced. When they arrived at Greys Sloan, she ran up to the emergency room and found a resident.
Firefighter: Are you Helm? This is the nose. Can you give it to Doctor Avery?
In the corner of the room a doctor knew she needed to pay attention to her patient but that voice made her want to stop everything. What was in that woman? Why was she there? She was on her back wearing a red jacket and jeans, her blonde hair loose over her coat and a deep voice that would probably drive anyone crazy.
