Somewhere Someday
(Chapter 6 – That Sweet Face of Yours)
“Helena!”
Alfred is in a serious state of alarm. The five seconds become a minute or longer for him as he stares at the face of the young lady. He cannot be mistaken. In a brief, sudden glance, he is still familiar with the sweet and delicate facial features. The brown eyes that he used to look at, the red lips that he kissed in a momentous summer twilight 65 years ago… everything is still clear and vivid to him.
The traffic light finally gives a green signal, letting the cars run again. Alfred panics as he looks back at the intersection.
“Calm down, son! Calm down!” Dr. Edgar pulls Alfred and prevents the young man from destroying the door lock. The boy wants to get out and run after her.
“Are you out of your mind?! That is not Helena!” the doctor shouts with a hassled tone.
“Decades have passed, Alfred. She may be dead, or granting that she’s still alive, she is now an old woman… old enough to play as your grandmother.” the doctor explains as he stresses the realities of time and human life.
“Then who is that woman?” Alfred shouts as he points directly to the car’s blurry and watery windshield.
“I don’t know! Maybe a ghost, or an alien! Hahahaha!” Dr. Edgar suddenly bursts in laughter.
“I am serious!” Alfred’s thick brows meet as he gives the doctor a daunting look.
“Lighten up! I thought you were completely over Helena? Two months ago, you were so sure to say that you don’t have feelings for her anymore… that now, you have a stone-like heart. Well, I can’t blame you. First love never dies!” the doctor naughtily smiles, teasing Alfred who gives a blank stare at his window.
“You’re right. I should forget her. But…” Alfred stops his sentence.
“But… you still have feelings for her, don’t you?” the doctor attempts to finish what the young man is saying. “Move on, Alfred! There are many girls in this world, and they are getting prettier and prettier.” he puts on a mischievous grin.
“Women are not my concern nowadays.” Alfred firmly says. The doctor smirks as he shifts the stick to second gear.

Slightly wet because of the intense rainfall, Hanna lets her cerulean blue umbrella drip at a metal counter near the university entrance. While hand-combing her tousled hair which has been washed by raindrops, a female classmate and friend approaches her.
“Girl, glad you’re here! Have you finished our homework? Gosh, I can’t think of an answer in the last item. How I wish classes were suspended.” a short-haired witty and perky girl friend starts to chat with Hanna, as it is their everyday morning routine before attending the first subject.
