Somewhere Someday

(Chapter 8 – The Past)

Hanna’s heart palpitates as sweat continues to run through her face. Her full body trembles in panic as she thinks of a way out of this hell room. The air-conditioned room becomes humid as she can’t take the sight of the perverted director who is just beside her.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be a star!” Hanna firmly exclaims as she suddenly nudges the old man’s groin with her right knee.

“Oh, shit! Damn you!” The director moves backward, hands covering his delicate area while his knees start to feel weak because of sharp pain.

The young lady wastes no time as she forcefully opens the sliding glass door. The director is about to reach her handbag but luckily, Hanna is able to move it away from the perverted man.

“Come back here!” shouted the director.

She quickly ran to the main door, with teenage kids looking and staring at her, clueless about the situation. Her heart continued to throb as she holds her bag tightly while making a fast exit. She ran fast through the silent corridor. As her brain is clouded with doubt and fear, she decided not to take the elevator. Instead, she found an overlooked fire exit and made her escape. Running through a large flight of stairs from the ninth floor made her feel a bit weak, with her knees absorbing the feeling.  But her adrenalin prevailed. In less than two minutes, she reached the ground floor.

Opening the large red door at the ground floor,  the sound of telephone calls and security radio frightens her even more. She thinks of the chances that the director might have called the guards downstairs and ordered them to search for her. Or worse, the old man might have called the police and fake a trespassing or theft complaint. These thoughts continue to haunt Hanna’s cloudy mind.

The fire exit is near the back door, so seeing the guards busy with a visitor, she grabs the chance as he runs to the rear exit, finally making a complete escape from the building. Tears start to fall from her swollen eyes while she continues to run in the streets. After passing about five minor intersections, she stops to take a deep breath and slowly walks on a silent corner.

“JC, please answer my call!” Hanna cries like an abandoned child as she holds her cell phone. Right now, her body is still trembling and chilling like there is an impending fever.

Her best friend answered fast and at around 5 to 10 minutes, a red Ferrari 599 SA Aperta car raced through the narrow street. The automobile stopped and door windows went down, making Hanna see JC. The girl quickly went inside.

“Please take me away from here! To a safe place!” Hanna cries as she tightly hugs her bag.

JC had no time to ask questions. The guy drove rapidly and took his friend to a calm garden near the university. He parked his car and let Hanna share her experience.

“What happened? You don’t look okay.” JC worries as he gets a Kleenex tissue from his dashboard and uses it to wipe tears from Hanna’s red eyes.
