Chapter 7

   I quietly entered my apartment. After she falls asleep. I kept repeating in my head. This is something I didn't want to mess up; I really like Shinozaki, and I want her to feel the same about me.

   I went to set up the couch to sleep on, but saw Shinozaki standing there. She was looking at the (small) collection of pictures of my family. "Is that his sister?" She asked aloud, obviously unaware I had come back into the apartment. "Yeah," I said, making Shinozaki jump. "That is my sister; her name is Miki." Shinozaki turned around and smiled.

   "She's the only one that cares about my situation." He said. "No, she's not." I mumbled. "Wh-" "Kusinuma, I care too; would I have given you that speech if I didn't!?"

   I didn't know what to say next, so I decided to change the subject. "So...where am I going to sleep?" "You can sleep in my bed; I am going to sleep on the couch. "Kishinuma, you have already let me stay here, I can't ask for much more. I'll sleep on the couch." He shook his head no, and opened his mouth to say something, but he stayed silent. He lated on the couch, just to prove to me he's sleep there. He really won't give up; will he?

   "I was wrong..." I started. "About what?" He asked in response. "About...you. No offense, but I thought you were just a tough guy that had no feelings and only cared to get in trouble." He looked a little hurt. I never thought so lowly of a human being before. "But now I see that I was... wrong. I understand it now; your situation, your life, you." He walked towards me and placed his hand on my cheek.
