Lydia was all packed and ready to go. there was no going back now. she held the letter in her hands contemplating on whether to open it or not. she had gotten two whereas everyone else had only gotten one. the funeral was the day before, she went to say her goodbyes with Alison. Today was her final goodbye to everyone. as she hauled her last bag into the car, she placed the letters inside.
Every ounce of her was screaming, begging for her to stay but she was too late. this was it now. this was the final goodbye. the longest move and the hardest time she had spent with her friends and family. This is where their chapter ends.
"i'm going to miss you" Lydias whimpers on her cousins shoulder as they shared one last embrace.
"please don't go" she sobbed into the girls shoulder, ignoring her aunts disapproving look. it was now more than ever that Allie needed her cousin so of course they would send her away. typical of them really.
"i have to...love you Allie"
"i love you too Lydia" they squeezed before releasing one another wiping away tears.her mind instantly went to Noah and Jim, both of them stuck in the hospital. She had said goodbye to Jim but she couldn't bring herself to say goodbye to Noah. it would hurt too much and even if he told her to go she would stay just to stay with him and Alison.
She turned to Mason. Her heart pounding as he pulled her close. She began to cry and laugh at the same time.
"you better stay in touch" he teased pulling her closer to him.
"i will, thank you...for everything... your the best friend i could have asked for"
he was silent for a minute. tears threatening to spill over onto his cheeks. "look after her for me, please" she whispered to him as a small smile passed across her lips.
"anything for you princess" he started. "i'll tell Noah everything i promise" she nodded pulling away. planting a small kiss on her forehead, he let her go. she was lucky in his eyes. to be free of this town.
he wrapped his arm around Alison, both waving as she got into the car and drove away.
"here we go again" Lydia muttered as she wiped her cheeks.
