"Lady Celes, are you sure you want to be this exposed to the public?" Chitoge was clutching her staff tighter than ever. "There could be paladins lurking about."

Haru walked with his shoulders slumped. "You'll be fine. What's concerning is you lugging that thing everywhere you go."

Chitoge looked down at her staff and stuck her tongue out at him. "A high priestess' staff isn't something you can just leave about the place."

Haru tried grabbing the staff but she simply tapped him on the head with it which lead to the two throwing insults at each other. Celes walked up front, taking in the breeze and sun. It wasn't something remotely new to her but taking a walk without having been hurt by the words of the other gods was quite a new concept.

"I like it here."

The two stopped their squabble. "Eh?"

Celes was smiling. "I really like it here," she repeated. "It's only been a few days but I think I like this feeling of being human. Mr. Otonashi, I never knew being an average girl would be this mesmerizing."

Haru tried to fix his stance. "I can't promise you it'll always be like that."

She nodded. "I know there will be bad times. It's just that... back in Matradona, I never really fit in with the others. I was just a goddess unaware of what I was or what I was supposed to do. I think I'd choose being like this rather than going back."

"But Lady Celes," Chitoge moved closer to her. "You have a responsibility to assume the position of Lord Goodness. Besides, we don't belong in this world."

Celes nodded with a sad look on her face. "Lord Order is probably sending search parties to find me at this point. It's not like I had a choice to begin with, is it?"

Haru looked down at her. "So should I take it that this whole 'become the new Goodness' thing was just sprung on you?"

Celes faced the next direction. "Lesser gods don't get to make decisions of that caliber and as a lesser god myself, turning down the judgment of Lord Order would be the same as treason."

"I don't know who this Order guy is but he sounds like one of those power hungry gangsters who think everything should go their way."

Chitoge was about to raise her staff at him but Celes stopped her. "Lord Order's sole purpose is to ensure there's balance to all planes of existence. Any decision from him has to be well thought-out as to how it will  affect all creations. Going against him is no less of saying you rather be selfish and disown the thriving nature and that in itself is a crime punishable only by death."

Haru's chin went up. "Gods can die?"

Celes shook her head. "Technically no but we can still be harmed by certain materials. Fatal damage to the brain and a god's memory is completely erased. If this happens the entire concept of what that god saw over would be removed from existence."

Chitoge stirred. "Lady Celes, why would you let him know that?"

She shrugged. "Mr. Otonashi is effectively my master now. There would be no point in withholding secrets from him."

Haru jerked. "When did I become that?"

Celes smiled sweetly. "Isn't having two cute girls at his convenience something every boy dreams of?"

"W-what gave you that idea?"

She grinned and wrapped her hands around his waist. "Takumi told me." She looked up in wonder and put a finger to her chin. "I don't get it but he said you were lucky."

Haru sighed.

Chitoge looked up at him. "Is having both of us stay with you some sign of moral high ground?"

"I'm not sure you'd like the answer to that."

Celes tilted her head. "He also said if you were ever feeling down Chitoge and I should make breakfast for you wearing nothing but an apron and that also that we shouldn't leave him in the dark."

Haru looked away. "Takumi always says some outlandish things."

Chitoge nodded. "He seems to always speak in metaphors and he greatly over-exaggerates his speeches. Is this a thing common to human males?"

"Could we just avoid bringing up whatever Takumi says?"

"Isn't he your ally? Does what he says bother you that much?"

Haru choked back a scream and hastened his steps to get a good way ahead of them.

"Mr. Otonashi seems a bit tense, m'lady."

Celes nodded. "To be completely honest, I feel strange whenever he addresses me."

Chitoge lowered her brow. "What do you mean?"

"It's hard to explain but whenever I speak to him anymore I get this warm feeling and it makes me nervous if my voice is too high or if I'm sweating."

Chitoge locked her hands around her staff. "You don't think it's some sort of spell, do you?"

Celes shook her head. "We confirmed our powers don't work here and I have no recollection of any mortals being able to use magic so I highly doubt it."

"So why don't you ask him?"

"Er..." Celes' voice stirs. "I don't know. Whenever the two of us are alone I can't bring myself to say anything calmly."

Chitoge looked at the boy still a way ahead. "Would you want me to be there with you then?"

Celes felt a strange heat gathering in her body. "Uh-uh..."

My chapters have been getting a lot shorter recently dropping from an average 1600 words to around 900 but I hope I get the entire idea across in them since judging your own work is kinda not ideal. Anyway, I hope this chapter was worth the 3 or 4 days wait since I got sidetracked and kept adding miscellaneous  chapters to my DDLC fanfic. Have a wonderful day!
