The fan-favorite mode, duos was back in the Apex Games, for a limited time. Normally, the fans decided who was paired up with who; whoever would fight the most, whoever was more powerful together, whatever brought ratings up and more money in. However, because you were so new to the games, the duo's would be randomized for the time being, until fans were more aware of your personality and faults. The dropship rattled as the expected turbulence of entering the map's atmosphere began, as well as announcements.

"Welcome to; World's Edge. Teams will be announced shortly"

Doing the same thing, you did the last match, you glanced around the ship, wondering who you would come to work with. You got lucky last time, with the friendly Mirage and skilled Crypto on your team, and you worked well together, but who knew if you would have that same luck today. Bangalore would be a nice pairing, she was extremely skilled with any and all weaponry, unlike yourself and a few other legends, who relied on specific guns, close or far range, depending on their personality and abilities, to do well. However, her smoke was obnoxious, and you've seen it one too many times cause a team's loss. Unless she was paired with bloodhound or crypto, or her squad had enough legendary sights, she was bound to fail if caught in a small building fight.

To say Wattson's abilities were useful would be an understatement, but you didn't like sitting in one place, waiting for enemies for too long, but that's how her kit worked; so you'd be left with the choice of going solo or waiting it out.  Not your cup of tea to say the least.

You wouldn't mind being paired up with Mirage, he was arrogant but friendly, and you two had a good enough connection that made you feel like you could trust him. Not to mention, his passive, that made him as well as whoever he was resurrecting, invisible was more than welcome, ressing after a fight always left a team exposed, and you would like that advantage.

Then, there was the mystery that was Crypto. He didn't hesitate to charge into fights, much like you, but sometimes he was way too cautious for your liking, granted, it had saved you and mirage a couple of times, but he never took risks unless they were in his favor. That being said, you wanted to know more about him, something drew you towards him, and you needed answers. He was quiet, and you were talkative, as talkative as you could be in a bloodsport,  so the match might get a little boring, but maybe, just maybe, if it was only the two of you, you could manage to get something, anything, out of him. If he would even drop his walls for a second, you'd be satisfied.

"Wraith and Mirage. Wattson and Octane."

The loud announcement had snapped you out of your deep thoughts.

"Bangalore and Bloodhound. Caustic and Gibraltar."

Shit, those teams sounded like trouble.

"Lifeline and Pathfinder"

"Crypto and Y/N."

Lady luck was on your side once again. Or maybe, it was fate?

"Looks like we're paired up again, Agassi."

You were surprised he talked to you first, turning towards him and walking towards the assigned dropping dock.

"These squads look like trouble, do you think we'll be okay?" You replied, glancing around, eyes stopping at Bangalore and Bloodhound, as well as Wraith and Mirage, the two squads you were most afraid of.

"Are you doubting the previous champions?" He said, making small adjustments to his drone as he spoke.

Holy crap, he's talking a lot more today.

"I guess that's right, huh?" You muttered as you began to do some small stretches, cramping up on the battlefield would be embarrassing, to say the least.
