"Now arriving at, King's Canyon."
This time, an unfamiliar announcement rang in your ears. The Apex Games had decided to re-introduce King's Canyon, as well as map rotations. Crypto was more familiar with the map than you were, and when you were all first notified of the game's changes, he filled you in as best as he could, but he told you that things may have changed since he last fought on that battlefield. However, as you approached in the dropship, things looked exactly the same as Crypto had described. That released some pressure from your mind, but as always, the anxiety before a battle did not cease. Crypto was not with you now, there was an unspoken agreement to keep the relationship private. You still looked to him for support, but he was invested in his computer, typing away.
It felt like far too long before the team announcements showed up on that large screen, and you were pretty happy with your familiar team of Crypto and Mirage. Your eyes didn't dart from the screen just yet though, you waited to see Revenants team. You were confident in Crypto's strategy, but any extra information wouldn't hurt. He was on a team with Octane and Wattson, and you immediately felt bad for Natalie. She was too sweet to be on his team!
You steadily walked over to the decks, giving Crypto a warm smile as he took his place next to you. Mirage followed shortly after, placing his hands around you in an awkward hug.
"The gang's back together!" He said as he lifted you slightly
You giggled, "It's nice to be on a team with you again, too, Elliot."
"It's just too bad the kid's such a grump!" He took a stab at Crypto
Crypto was looking away from the both of you, and he didn't say a thing, despite normally bickering with Elliot back and forth.
Elliot pulled his arms away from you, giving you a shrug in response to Crypto's abnormal silence.
The docks began to lower, and almost instantly, everyone headed to one place, Skulltown.
Crypto had told you it was normally the hottest drop, but you didn't Imagine just how many squads landed there.
Your squad followed, landing in the area closest to thunder dome. You were able to get two pretty good weapons, a peacekeeper and a re-45 upon drop. There was what seemed like constant gunfire echoing throughout skulltown. You and your team continued to loot the far side of skulltown, before heading towards the busy center. That's when you and Crypto heard the sound of Revenant's ult dropping.
"Agassi, let's go."
"right."
You and Crypto began heading towards the area where you heard Revenant pop his ult, with Mirage not too far behind.
"Guys! I need a little help over here!" Mirage said into the comms, he had been spotted by another squad while he was following the two of you.
You and Crypto made a u-turn and began to head towards Mirage. Your running was suddenly stopped by an arm tugging you.
"Crypto, wh-" He was looking at the sky
You looked up and saw missiles falling from the sky. Not like Bangalore's or Gibraltar's, these were big, and they were going to make some destruction.
Crypto pulled your arm, trying to run out of the path of destruction the missile was going to have. You were worried you weren't going to make it to safety.
"Hi, friends!" Pathfinder was suddenly beside you.
You aimed your re-45 at him, but he didn't react.
"Friends, I'm going to make a zipline to safety." He sent one towards high ground, away from the danger.
"What about Mira-"
