*Hey guys! This story is sadly coming to an end. :( This chapter is mostly a dream Mal has about dragons. Because, well, dragons.*

Mal fought back tears as she continued down the cave. Her mother was gone forever, just as she was beginning to bond with her. The grief was too much for her to handle. Mal staggered and finally had to stop. She felt her body growing tired, and found a root growing out from the wall to rest in. She curled up and soon fell into an uneasy sleep.

There were dragons everywhere. From the northern parts of Auradon, they stretched to the far city walls of the south, and dominated the peaks of the mountains. Allye loved her kingdom. And so did her children. She had one from each tribe of dragons. Shard, Flame, Ivy, Ocean, Viper, and Eagle. Her daughters, Shard, Ivy, Ocean, and Viper, were of the ice, nature, water, and sand tribes. Her sons, Flame and Eagle, were from the fire and air tribes. They loved their mother and cared for her greatly. Her daughters were in line to be the next queens. With Ocean as the oldest, the other three looked up to her. Ivy was the next oldest and followed in Ocean's footsteps. Viper was the next in line and was very independent, but loyal to her sisters. Shard was the youngest and had no position of power. Her sisters treated her well, though and loved her dearly. Her sons were being trained to be guards for her court. Flame was the youngest and talented, but not as bold and brash as his older brother Eagle. Eagle did love his brother, and stood up for him.

"Be strong brother," said Eagle, one day at training, spreading his thin, air like wings in the air, showing off his large forearm muscles. "The humans will have more weapons then we have ever seen."

"But we're dragons," said Flame, curling up his tale and tracing his talon on the stony floor. "We don't need weapons to win a war against humans."

Eagle chuckled. "You put to much faith in our powers little brother. But soon you will see, power does not win a war."

"Neither does brains," said Flame quietly.

"I heard that," said Eagle, playfully hitting Flame with his tail. "Now keep training. The war will not fight itself."

"Honestly Eagle," said Ocean, from above the arena, her sisters around her. "You can't expect to train all day."

"Yes," said Ivy. "Surely you must have something better to do."

"Alas, I do not," said Eagle. "You don't have to sit there and tease us you know."

"Oh we do," said Viper, with a smile. "I just love watching you fail."

"Can I try?" asked Shard hopefully.

"You do not want to sister," said Ivy. "It is to intense for us princesses. Our duty must be to the throne."

"How was your playdate with Frost?" asked Ocean, politely.

"It wasn't a playdate," said Shard. "It was a hang out."

"Well how was it?" asked Viper.

"Fine," said Shard. "I guess. All we did was talk about queenly stuff."

"Is there something wrong with that?" asked Ivy indignantly.

"There's everything wrong with it," said Viper. She wrapped her wing around Shard and smiled. "Come on, let's go fly back to castle. I'm sure Dune, Aqua, and Blizzard are back by now."

"Tell Aqua I say hello?" said Ocean, allowing Ivy to place a crown of shells around her head.

Viper and Shard nodded and took off, flying to their mother's castle high up in the mountains. Eagle loved the height and Shard loved the cold. The other siblings preferred down near the shore where Flame and Viper could bask in the sun, Ivy could sleep in the trees, and Ocean could swim in the sea and meet with Aqua in secret. The two sisters landed in front of the entrance near three dragons, an ice tribe, a sand tribe, and a water tribe. They bowed as the princesses landed.
