Before You Read

In honor of the rich culture of the Hispanic and Latino culture, I will use Spanish terms; for those of you who have no exposure to Spanish words, please refer to this chapter for a glossary of phrases, terms. 

Spanish Words/Phrases

Bisexual: "Bisexual"

Con toda mi alma: "with all my heart" 

De: "Of" 

Hermana: "Sister." 

Lesbiana: "Lesbian"

Lobo: "Wolf"

Mamá: "Mommy"

Mi alma: according to an article entitled "40 Spanish Nicknames to Express Affection for Friends, Family, Lovers and Strangers," this is a romantic term of endearment that directly translates to "my soul." 

Mi amor: "My love"

Mi corazón: according to Wordreference.com, this means, "my dear," directly translated to "my heart."

Mi sol: Another term of endearment from  "40 Spanish Nicknames to Express Affection for Friends, Family, Lovers and Strangers," which directly translates to "my sun." 

Patatas bravas: (according to Wikipedia) "white potatoes that have been cut into irregular cubes of about two centimetres, then in and served warm with a spicy sauce." 

Promiscua: "Promiscuous" 

Señor: "Mr." 

Señora: "Mrs."

Tapas: Spanish bar snacks.

Te amo: "I love you." 

Te deseo: "I want you"

Tu: "You" or "Your"

Una: feminine form of "A." 

Vampiresa: "Vampiress"

In addition, I will also celebrate Italian culture with Italian vocabulary. For those of you who don't know Italian, please refer here too.

Italian Words/Phrases

Bella: "Beautiful"

Bello: "Handsome"

Bissesuale: "Bisexual"

Ciao bella: "Hello, beautiful." 

Congrega: "Gang" or in this case, "Coven." 

Druido: "Druid"

Ho bisogno di te: "I need you." 

Ibrido: "Hybrid" 

La mia vita: "My life"

Lupo: "Wolf"

Mi dispiace: "I'm sorry." 

Mi paici: "I like you"

Nonna: "Grandma." 

Pasta alla Norma: a traditional Sicillian dish made of "tomatoes, aubergines, garlic, basil and ricotta salata, salted ricotta" according to Great Italian Chefs. (In the book, the dish will include modernized practices such as slathering this amazing dish in ketchup, so be prepared.)

Sanguisuga: Literally, "leech," but also can mean "bloodsucker." 

Strega: "Witch"

Ti amo: "I love you." 

Ti voglio: "I want you."
