You talk of equality
But then you see my blackness as a crime
Everything good has to be you
And everything bad in this world has to be me
You watch us build you up
And you don't appreciate it
I forgave you even when you took all I had
Chained me and shed the blood of my people
We fought for our freedom
So we could be equal
Yet you can't see underneath my skin

So when centuries pass
You told me you were enlightened
I rejoiced for we can be brother now
But your words says you have changed
Yet your actions seem indifferent
You don't have to drag me in chains
For me to know you haven't changed
You preach of equality
When you still can't see underneath
The colour of my skin
It is still the same story with different names
Your ancestors passed centuries ago
But they plant a seed of hatred for me
Yet I still hope you can see we are equal
And our skin does not matter

They say I can do what you do better
Yet you limit me to the kitchen
Telling me that's where I belong
Forgetting I am your backbone
We chase starlights together
Yet you still don't see our equality
I have fought battles
Ruled kingdoms
And always give life
When we stand side by side
You see me as just a woman
When you should be kissing
The ground I walk on
You rather limit my worth to a household
And you still don't see our equality
