A Couple of Weeks After the Empress's Arrival at the Capital Site
Kallen sits by herself in the Ashford Academy student council room, her mind focused on the highschool's student worst enemy: homework. Come on, let's see. If I take the repeating figure into consideration, and then account for the multiple variation coefficient.... Then use the formula from class... OK my answer is 55.4. Please let it be right-please let it be right-please let it be right. Kallen slowly flips the pages of her student work packet that her homeroom teacher, Mrs. Villetta Ohgi, gave her. With every page she turns her heart starts to beat a little bit fast. Please just let my answer be right, I can't stand looking at this same problem again! Finally she reaches the answer page of the packet, her eyes travel down the page to the problem that she was just working on. Soon what was anticipation for victory turned into soul crushing defeat. NO! Kallen looked at the answer listed on the page, it was nowhere near her original one. "Dammit!" Kallen shouts, slamming her pencil on the desk. She rumbles the temples of her head, her brain aching from the constant number crunching.
Outside the room and in the hallway, Gino and Anya were walking. The two of them had just finished a meeting with the volleyball club, "That was the last one, all budget meetings with school clubs have concluded", Anya says in a monotone voice. She opens the folder that she's carrying and places the club management paperwork inside. Then her phone vibrates in her pocket, she reaches for it and sees a notification pop up on the screen, it's a text message from a person named Jeremiah. Anya stops in her tracks and quickly types away on her cell phone.
Gino, taking notice of how fast she's typing figures it's to someone important, "Hey, who's that you're talking to?" he asks her.
"Hmm." her eyes don't even move from the phone, "One second." Anya continues to type, eventually she finishes and puts the phone away. "That was Jeremiah Gottwald. You remember him don't you, he came here to visit with Empress Nunnally." Anya explains.
Gino is taken back by her response, "Wait how do you have Orange Boy's number?"
Anya crossers her arms in front of her small body, "It's complicated. You see he offered to take me in. He gave me a place to stay." Her voice changed, it became much more quiet and timid than it usually was. Gino could tell that this was kind of difficult for her to talk about. "Mr. Gottwald helped me."
"How so?" Gino asks.
"Well it was during the battle between Black Knights and Emperor Lelouch's army. My knightmare was severely damaged and Mr. Gottwald was ready to finish me off. But for some reason he decided to spare my life. Helped me get my old memories back."
Gino recalls how Anya used to be during their time together as Knights of the Round. She was always so quiet and isolated from everyone. In fact, Gino was the only one of the Knights who actually tried to befriend the young girl. "So he takes care of you now?" Gino smiles a little bit, "I gotta say I never expected that, but as long as you're happy there, then I guess it's OK."
Anya rubs the sole of her shoe on the pristine floors, "I suppose so."
"Mind me asking what that long text was about?" he asks her.
"Oh, Mr. Gottwald was just asking me if I'll be returning to the Farm for vacation." Gino nods along waiting to hear what Anya's answer was, "I was explaining to him that I have a lot of school and student council work going on. I really don't have time to consider what I can do in my free time. I want to make sure that I can get all of my necessary work done first then I focus on relaxing."
Gino raises an eyebrow at the young girl's response. He's known Anya for quite some time, he's never seen her ponder so much on a decision before. Usually she immediately knows what she would want, I have never known her to hesitate like this, he thinks to himself. "Well sounds to me you really don't know what your answer is." He walks towards her, "Anya, you have an opportunity here. To experience the world, and to do it with someone who seems to care about you. Look, I may have never given Orange-". Ayna gives him a quick glare, her gaze like a knife cutting swifty. Gino corrects himself, "I may have never given Jeremiah the respect he deserved. But what I can respect is that fact he would be willing to take you in and help discover yourself." He pats her on the head, "I'd think that it would best that you go. Besides I'll be here to manage things around here. The student council will be in good hands." Anya recalls a moment that she had with Mr. Gottwald, it was when Empress Nunnally made her visit to Ashford.
