"Mommy! Mommy," Ramsey cried in his sleep.
I ran into the room flipping the light on running to my son, "shh, it's okay baby! Mommy's here! I'll never leave you again," I cooed holding him tight!
"Can I sleep with you tonight," he asked, tears rolling down his cheeks?
"I told you last night, that it was the last night." Ramsey buried his head into my chest crying harder. "Okay, okay. Fine come on," I sighed caving in.
"Mommy," I turned to look in the direction of the small voice. "Can we sleep with you too?"
I smile lightly, reaching out to hug them, "yes, babies, you can! Come on now, let's go to bed so we can all go back to sleep," walking back my room when I heard the door bell. I sent the children to my room, "mommy, will be right back. You go on to bed," I said going to the door.
Peeking through the peep hole I was surprised at who was on the other side. "Paula, I know you're in there! I heard your footsteps," the familiar British voice slurred.
I closed my eyes shaking my head, trying to get in the right head space to deal with a drunk Simon, while having three eight year olds right upstairs. I sighed and opened the door with a smile, "Hey Simon! Come on in."
"Paula, sweetheart," Simon says going in for a hug but I dodge him and he walks into the wall. I cover my mouth to keep from snickering at him.
"Simon, what are you doing here," I question, as I check up the stairs to see if the children are in my room or not.
"I needed to see you, Love!"
"It's been a month, Si! Before that it was two years! Why do you wanna see me so bad now?"
"Paula, love! Can we sit down, I seem to be a bit woozy," Simon says swaying back and forth.
"Go ahead into the living room. I'm going to get you some water and something to eat to help sober you up a bit!"
"Thanks, love!" I roll my eyes walking into the kitchen.
Making him a sandwich, I start grumbling to myself, till I hear a little voice in the living room talking sweetly. I rush to the door and was about to run in when I saw the sweetest scene, "hi, I'm Saylor! This is Chrisleigh and Ramsey. We're supposed to be in bed right now, but shh, what Mommy doesn't know won't hurt her."
"Mommy, is our real mommy. She gave us up under pressure, but made sure we had a good home," Chrisleigh says smiling climbing on the couch.
"Yeah, until we were three," Ramsey rolls his eyes. "But now we're back with our Mommy," he smiles. "She promised to never leave us again! We love our Mommy, and we know she loves us!"
I smile standing in the door way, watching the scene unfold, "Well that's great! Did your mommy tell you about your daddy?"
"Not a lot just that, he was a good man. A nice man, but he doesn't let a lot of people see that side of him," Chrisleigh said smiling up at him.
"And that he's the reason she gave us up," Ramsey huffed, and I saw Simon visually recoil. Trying my best not to laugh at the situation.
"But that she was really sorry for what she had done, and that she's sure our father is sorry as well," Saylor said slapping his brother upside the head.
"Ouch," Ramsey yelled and tackled his brother to the floor. I giggle quietly to myself watching them until it starts to get rough.
"Boys," I raised my voice and they look at me scared. "Don't fight, that's not the way to solve your problems!"
