Hinata skipped back to the gym, his new Volleyball shoes dangling from the orange laces in his hand. If one was to peer down at his feet, they would discover that he was only wearing socks over them.
The middle blocker wanted to put his shoes on with Kenma, so he got dressed into his gear as fast as he could and ran towards the gym almost crashing several times while on his way there. "Kenma!" He yelled as soon as his head was through the gym door.
"Kenma is still getting dressed," Kuroo exclaimed, and Hinata bowed his head in apology for interrupting. The gym was gigantic and there was enough room for two courts, but only one was occupied. Currently playing was Kageyama, Narata, Yamaguchi, Ennoshita, Nishinoya, and Tanaka against Kuroo, Yaku, Yamamoto, Inuoka, Lev, and Shibayama. Because Kenma wasn't present just yet, Yaku was filling in for setter, and was doing a pretty good job, even with Lev.
"Hinata,"
The first year turned around to find Daichi and Sugawara in front of him, both looking less-than-pleased. "Why are you in your socks?" Daichi popped the question, with the scary dad-aura coming back to him from when he greeted Kuroo earlier. Hinata gulped. He was totally going to be yelled at.
"I-I was waiting for K-Kenma so we could put our shoes on t-together," he muttered, nervous for his safety. Suga and Daichi shared a Parent Look™, then looked at the ginger. "Sit down," Suga told him, his own aura starting to stiffen, scaring the first year. He did as he was told, and plopped down right onto the rather cold gym floor.
Hinata heard Tsukishima snickering about how funny it was that Daichi and Suga we're teaming up on him, but he tried not to think about or even acknowledge it. Suga grabbed Hinata's foot, and both he and Daichi looked at it. "Just as we thought," He confirmed, and Daichi nodded. Suga dropped the foot, and Hinata grabbed it and held it close to him, like the third years were going to chop it off. The aura turned into an almost confusing one, when both Daichi and Suga yelled at the exact same time.
"There's dirt on your sock!"
Hinata relaxed his entire body in relief when he found out the captain and vice captain of Karasuno weren't going to kill him. The aura around them completely crashed down when the first year heard that, and he was about to say something about them being scary together, when he heard the gym door open.
"Shōyo...?" Kenma questioned after he walked into the gym and saw his friend on the floor with Sugawara and Daichi above him. "Ken-Ken!" Hinata yelled, jumping up and running over to his friend.
He was so excited he didn't even say Kenma's name right, but the second year didn't really care, he was too busy trying not to break out in a blush after hearing Hinata say his name like that. "Do you have your shoes?" The ginger asked, bubbling with excitement. Daichi and Suga shared another look, then walked away from the setter and middle blocker, smirks clear as day on their faces.
It looked like they had some work to do.
Kenma lifted his hands up to show the new pair of white shoes he purchased earlier in the day. He didn't say anything because he didn't trust his voice enough to speak without cracking. Hinata jumped into the air, and the two walked over to the Coaches' bench, bowed to Nekomata and Ukai, then sat down beside each other, the coaches on either side of them. Hinata was the first one to slip on his shoes. He stood up, then walked around in them a few steps. The way it fit his foot was almost magical, and he couldn't wait to start jumping and spiking Kageyama's quicks.
