Everyone was gathered around a campfire as we emerged out of the forest. They had managed to find a little covered area in the mountain side, so we were able to sleep without having to lay in the snow. My arm was nearly being pulled out of the socket by Rebecca as she dragged me to them.
"Natalia! Natalia!" She called excitedly.
Natalia stood up and came round to meet her.
"Hello, darling." Rebecca said as we got close enough. She let me go and ran to Natalia before lifting her into the air and spinning her around. Natalia laughed in surprise and delight.
"What's got you all excited?" She chuckled after she had been put down.
"Looks like these beauties are a lot more powerful than I originally thought!" Rebecca said, grabbing and raising my arm that held Dragonwrath and pulling out her own sword. "You should see the great, massive hole in that fuckers head!"
Natalia looked behind us though, and raised her eyebrows. We turned and saw Sawyer jogging up towards us.
"Hey! You left me behind!" He wheezed, out of breath. "One minute you were there chatting, the next you had disappeared."
"Sorry, Hank. Got excited." Rebecca said, grinning.
Sawyer snorted. "I'm not going to say anything, but you two are seriously going to kill me here."
He chuckled loudly and went to sit by Ashdown.
"You were saying?" Natalia asked Rebecca.
"Huh?" Rebecca said, looking confused for a second then remembering what we had been on about. "Oh, yeah. Our swords are much, much, much more powerful than I ever realised!"
"You said it blew a hole through the Amica Ignis' head?" She said.
Rebecca nodded vehemently in excitement. "Apparently, Ruth, here, cut her hand a few times on the blade. It then glowed.. Did you say it was blue?"
I nodded. "Yup." I said, popping the P. "I could see the colour change behind my eyelids. One minute it was blinding white then it changed to blue and I felt like I was being pulled forwards."
"Isn't that great?!" Rebecca exclaimed, dancing on the spot.
"And you call me weird..." Natalia mused, an eyebrow raised skeptically at her wife.
"Natalia, don't you get what this means?!" Rebecca said, taking both her hands. "This means we can kick Tiana's arse in a fucking heartbeat if I can just get near enough! No more need for wars. Heck, I'll even travel back to Deathea if it means I can take a shot at her!"
"Ok, first of all, you are definitely never going to Deathea. Secondly, you have only just discovered these swords can do that. Wouldn't you want to work out how to control it first?" Natalia said, trying to calm Rebecca down a bit. She looked a bit alarmed at the way Rebecca was behaving with this new discovery.
"Oh, I plan to!" Rebecca said. "This is the beginning of the end, darling! Ain't nothing gonna stop me now!"
Natalia chuckled nervously, watching Rebecca go to sit with the others with a skip in her step. I narrowed my eyes at her.
"You don't seem to share her enthusiasm there, Natalia. What's the matter?"
Natalia turned back to face me and sighed.
"Rebecca has a habit of running before she can walk. I'm scared that this new discovery means she will go out of her way to find a way to use it."
"What do you mean?" I asked, furrowing my brow.
"You heard her. She wants to use it to kill Tiana. While I'm happy she has regained her hope of finishing this, once and for all, I'm terrified that she will go out looking for Tiana and put herself in danger." Natalia admitted, bowing her head.
"She needs to learn how it works first though, right?" I said, trying to comfort her.
"Yes," Natalia nodded. "But I'm also scared she will tell Rhianna. Rhianna is very aggressive and quite... dangerous at the best of times."
I nodded. "I've heard about her sword. The Spineripper."
"After Rhianna found that sword, Rebecca actually started to regret making it because she got so vicious. I was also worried that the Order could easily persuade her to join them." Natalia looked over her shoulder at Rebecca who was animatedly telling the others about the new discovery, her eyes shining with the excitement. "I don't want to upset her, Ruth, but I'm actually scared."
"You need to have a quiet talk with her tonight." I advised her. "Tell her how you're feeling. Say you will support her wholeheartedly but you will step in if things go too far."
Natalia's eyes lit up. "That's a great idea. Thank you, Ruth!" She gave me a hug, which I kind of returned, still feeling a little freaked out after yesterday's forced dancing lesson.
"Come on, lets go sit with the others."
We both approached the fire where Rebecca had just finished telling them about what happened. Rebecca stood up as Natalia came over to her and they kissed. I sat down next to Hodgson and leaned into him, pecking him on the lips. I looked around at everyone and my eyes landed on Hunter who looked awful.
"Hunter." I called over to him.
He started and stared at me. "Watson, I am so sorry."
I got off Hodgson and went to sit next to him. "Hunter, you have no reason to apologise." I assured him.
"I do. I attacked you, it was like I had no control. I knew what I was doing, and I knew I didn't want to do it, but I had no control over anything."
I hugged him tightly. "You had no control because you were under the influence of that Amica Ignis. Anyone in your position wouldn't have been able to fight that."
He nodded, and gave a wry smile.
I smiled back and went back to Hodgson. Laying my head in his lap, I beamed up at him and he stroked the hair away from my face.
"You tired?" He asked me.
I nodded. "Very."
"Let's get comfortable then."
We stood back up and went to lay our cloaks by the cliff face. We laid down together on Hodgson's cloak and used mine to cover us up. Snuggling together, we fell into a deep sleep.
