Chapter 1

~Y/N POV~

I wonder why my dad wanted me to come to his work place today. He's a very successful inventor and works for the government in their weaponry division.

I've never been aloud to the building before but today he called me to say he had a surprise for me that he wanted to give me. I don't know what as it's not my birthday or anything like that.

However I still agreed but I was running a little late as usual to meet him. I'm not very good at keeping up with being on time. I don't know why it's just always been a bad habit of mine even when I was in school. My worst ever place to have ever gone to, it admittedly wasn't that bad after my bully's disappeared off the face of the plant. I'm not complaining though they made my life hell and I have the scars physically and mentally for that thanks to them. I couldn't bare to face them everyday of my life at school and that lead to my attempt of suicide in my bathroom one day. A memory I don't like to think about.

They disappeared days after that and I never seen them since. Thank god.

I've moved on to bigger and better things.

I work as a teacher with small children but thanks to my dads money he purchased a huge penthouse for me that was actually way too big for me with a lot more space than I needed.

My life's simple but it feels good. Never did I think back in school that I would have such a life and my dad has been a big support to me and I have the best of friends. We met at college and have been in separable ever since. Which reminds me I have lunch with them this afternoon.

I picked up my phone from my side table that was placed on my landing next to the stairs and rushed down the stairs with my handbag and shoes in the other hand.

Yes I'm running late so I have no time to put on my shoes and run out to the elevator that was already waiting for me as my front door was basically my elevator on the top of the building. You would need to have a passcode to enter within the elevator to my place otherwise anyone could just come and go as they please.

My dad wouldn't allow that he's very protective because of his profession. He's made lot of enemies over the years but would never tell me more than that, he's a secretive guy.

While in the elevator I put on my black plain heels and swung in my jacket and my bag over my shoulder. My phone pinged a message and it showed a text message from my cousin from my mothers side, Mark. We grew up close together as if we were brother and sister. In fact he moved in with us and my dad raised the both of us because there was no one left on my mothers side of the family that was still living. He would of been lost in the legal system somewhere if my dad didn't take him in and I was marks only blood relative left.

Mark texted me that my best friend Annie, had invited him to lunch with us and he accepted he just wanted to give me the heads up.

To be honest I was more than happy that he would be coming, he's been busy himself working as a doctor so I've not seen much of him lately.

After texting mark back I ran out the elevator and out into the car park and to my car.

Thank goodness there was no traffic at this time of morning which was very lucky on my part since I was already running late.

It took me about 30 minutes to drive there with no traffic but once I pulled up to my dads building after going through security for a further 10 minutes I texted my dad quickly to tell him I was just entering the building.

I didn't bother to grab my bag and take it with me, I wouldn't need it for anything since he said he had a surprise for me.

When I arrived into the main lobby of the building it was practically empty and not to mention my first time actually entering this place.
