We made it back home a few minutes earlier than usual.
Shelby stopped the car rather abruptly. "It was nice talking to you," he said. "We haven't gotten the chance in a while. See you again soon, I hope."
"Same to you," I told him. "I missed you."
I got out of the car and started walking up to my house. I heard Shelby give the engine a good amount of throttle as he left.
Luke opened the door when he saw me. I ran up and threw my arms around him.
"You already miss him, don't you?" he asked.
"Of course I do. Tails is the best."
I noticed a faint smile on his face. "I know he is."
We sat down in the living room. Luke started to talk, but I already knew what he was going to say.
"It was good," I started. "Pretty boring, as usual, but I'm used to that. Tails finished another story right before he had to leave..."
"You're too worried about him. You know he'll be fine."
"I guess you're right..." I moved a little closer to him. "Did you have anything planned for today?"
His face lit up. "Not before I knew Tails had left, but now... follow me, I want to show you something."
He brought me into his giant garage. We went all the way to the back, which I didn't actually remember ever doing before.
Luke pointed to the most hidden car out of all the ones I can see. "Do you remember this one?"
I took a closer look at it. I noticed all the logos down the side, and the colorful paint design, and the number on the door...
Wait, a number on the door? I asked myself.
Luke gave me a sort of "what do you think" smile.
I was stunned.
