ELENOR
"How are you feeling?"
Logan groaned and turned over to face Elenor who stood leant against the doorframe. "Like death."
Elenor took a step forward and chuckled. "You're preaching to the choir." Healing Logan had taken it out of her and she'd just woken up from a much needed nap.
"Where is everyone?" Logan asked, his voice gruff.
Elenor's jaw tightened and she wondered how much she should say, but Logan spotted the movement and instantly sat up, his wolf in his eyes. "J's fine!" she blurted before perching on a chair in the corner of the room. "But Saf was taken so they've gone to find her. J texted though, apparently they've got her and are heading to Rootbridge. J and Calllie are on their way back here. It looks like we're all going on a road trip."
Logan was warring with his wolf for control but eventually managed to regain the upper hand. "So Jos's safe?"
"Yup! She didn't even go to get Saf, just drove to fetch Callie."
Logan nodded and sat up, rubbing his hands across his face.
"I could try and heal you again if you like?" She offered, knowing she really shouldn't, but equally he looked like he was in pain and she couldn't stand it.
Logan shook his head and slowly got to his feet. "No, it's OK. You need to rest about as much as me. I'm going to go and take a shower. Will Jos' be back soon?"
Elenor stood to her feet and nodded, "within the hour. I'll go and put on some coffee." Turning from the room, she left Logan to get ready and headed into the kitchen of J's home. She flicked on the coffee machine and walked outside onto the decking, looking out over the Black Oath packlands. They didn't have much here, but she could see the potential. Knew that one day the Black Oath territory would be something to envy.
She sighed deeply, feeling a pang of sadness. She found it hard being here, but even harder being at Rootbridge. No-where felt like home anymore. No one felt like home. Seeing Logan and J's devotion to each other honestly only made it worse – but knowing that their pain wasn't over, well that was something else altogether.
Taking her phone from her pocket she once again checked to see if Leah had messaged her back, but still she'd heard nothing. She glared at the she-wolf's name and once again began typing out a message hoping that maybe this time, she'd actually bother to reply.

LEAH
Well, it was official. Leah had lost her mind. Yet she didn't regret it for a minute.
As a small child, she'd been teased and told that one day she'd end up as crazy as her aunt Mildred, who had, by all accounts, hit the age of thirty and then lost her ever loving mind. Three mates and two house fires later, Mildred was banished from her pack and sent out into the world where, supposedly, some human hunters had shot her and had her stuffed and mounted to the wall of their office on the other side of the world.
Leah wasn't sure that was true, and honestly it all sounded like a lot of effort and not something she had any intention of doing, but she was sure she'd finally gone crazy and abandoned all reason – but who knew it would feel so good.
She had never been a risk taker. Always more someone who makes a list and a plan before acting. Yet, when Jack had kissed her something had changed. She'd known in that moment that they belonged to each other, and so, abandoning all reason, she'd claimed her moonmate then and there. And they hadn't made it past the bedroom ever since.
She stretched her aching limbs and nestled deeper into her pillow as an arm tugged her waist towards the source of heat beside her. The rogue, Jack, planted a small kiss to her forehead and tucked her into his chest, his arms holding her to him.
She was surprised that unlike the last few times she'd woken like this, he didn't try and take her – but perhaps there was only so much they could both handle. Lord knew her body ached all over but she also felt more at peace than she ever had.
His hands rubbed up and down her spine, rough against her smooth skin. She luxuriated in the touch and the gentle way such a powerful beast held her. "We should try and make it out of the bedroom today, mate."
She smiled wide at the name of endearment, blushing, and buried her head into his chest. "Do we have to? I'm perfectly comfortable here."
He chuckled and she felt the vibration through his chest. "Of course we don't. But food would be good."
As if in response her stomach grumbled and she rolled off of him groaning. "Fine. The stomach gods have spoken." She sighed contently as she sat up, he shifted behind her until he knelt at her back and planted small kisses along her neck and shoulder as his hands wrapped around her and began to explore. She stilled his movement with a light touch. "I thought we were going to get food."
He nipped her neck, making her buck. "I didn't mean right now. I don't think I've quite finished with my mate just yet."
She squealed and made a dive for the door but his arms wrapped around her middle and threw her back to the bed. Her laughter was drowned out as he kissed her long and hard, hands skimming her sides until he settled between her thighs.
"I could stay like this forever," he whispered against her skin.
She smiled at his wholly human eyes and leaned up to kiss him softly. "As could I."
