A Vision of Shadows

"Umber's real name was Juna. Before...you know..." Sophie had realized what Keefe had meant about Trix and Umber working together all the time. It turned out they were siblings. Trix was still devastated over Umber's death. Or should Sophie be calling her Juna now? Trix gave her a sad smile. "I know for a fact that some of the Neverseen doesn't trust you yet, like Storm (A hydrokinetic I made up), but I think you should know my name." Trix absentmindedly created a breeze that fluttered through the top of the target tree. "You may know me as Lord Redek."

The target tree was what the Neverseen used to practice aim, Sophie figured out. That was why there were so many ruptures in the dark brown bark. Sophie nailed the middle of the tree with a weird ogre-dagger thing on the third try, so she went on to learn/practice temperature regulation, levitation, hunger suppression, holding her breath, telekinesis and outer channeling. And night vision. Sophie was the worst at night vision. Jay (That's me!) told her the only way to survive in the darkness was to embrace the shadows. But Sophie couldn't. No matter how hard she tried, every time Jay clouded the room with shadows, the world dissolved into a landscape of nightmares and fear. Every time, Jay made the shadows disappear, and the visions went away, dropping her back into reality. Every time, Jay sighed, "Well, you might get it next time." But she never did.

The picture at the top is my newest ship...you can ignore it if you want...(or you can try to guess what it is)
