Days go by without seeing or hearing from both Hailey and Jason. They have going out a lot, so it must be going well. but I miss hanging out with Hailey. Scared to admit I even miss Jason company. I haven't seen him in his room either, as he keeps his curtains closed at all time. It has given me enough time to figure out the choir set. Now, the only thing left is the choreography. Maybe Hailey and Jason can help me out with that. Hailey might not be the best singer. The only reason she is in the choir is for easy credits. But she is one of the best dancers we have. Jason on the other hand is a great singer, but I have never seen him dance. Maybe they make a great couple n the show floor as well. And it will help me to see them do the dance, as I can immediately see what needs to be changed with my own eyes.
The light screen of my phone lights up. I pick up.
'My parents are unreasonable! Will yours adopt me?' It is a hysterical Hailey.
'What happened?' I ask.
'I am coming over. See you in 5.' She hangs up the phone. I guess she is coming over. I already prepare for what she is going to say. Knowing her parents it probably has something to do with Jason. They are often not fond of Hailey's choice in boyfriends. But then again, nobody is good enough for their little girl. Little do they know, Hailey isn't that little anymore.
Not much later she storms into my room. She grabs one of my pillows and screams in it, loud. When your friends as long and good as we are, saying hello is really just a courtesy.
'I hate them! How is it those two made me? Me, Hope?' She exclaims. 'I swear to you, I am adopted. Or switched at birth.' She paces around my room.
'Drama Queen.' I try to cheer her up. 'Tell me what they did this time.'
She sits down next to me, unencouraged. 'They decided to ship me off to Italy. They call it a vacation.'
'What? Why now? School starts in two weeks.' I utter.
Hailey sits up. 'Because it is good for my education.' She says with a high-pitched voice. Which she always does when she reenacts one of her parents.
'I mean, Italy doesn't sound so bad. It is just weird timing.' I say.
'Is it weird timing, though? When you really think about it, I have been spending a lot of time with Jason this past week and now they want to take me across the world. For the remaining of summer break.' She says skeptical.
'Okay, maybe it is not a coincidence.' I agree. 'However, there are worse places than Italy to sit out summer break.' I try to cheer her up.
'I was having such a great time with him.' She pouts.
'I was hoping on rehearsing choreography with you.' I pout too. That is one of our other traditions. But not this year.
'But once again my parents ruin everything.' She throws herself backwards onto my bed.
'When do you leave?' I ask her.
'Tomorrow morning. They ruined any chance I got with him.' She looks through my window.
'That's not true. You said you had a good week together. You are going to facetime each other. He won't forget about you. I will make sure of it!' I promise her.
'Maybe you are right.'
'But now...' I built the suspense. 'I haven't seen or heard from you in like forever. I want to hear all about your dates with Jason.' I squeal.
'Oh, Hope, it has been like a dream! We have been to the Italian restaurant in town, the movie theater. We even have been laser gaming. We talk, hold hands, we kiss.' She smiles when she says it. She looks like she is dreaming away in her memories. 'He is the best kisser ever!' She gushes.
