When One Direction was first formed, Harry Styles was constantly homesick and upset about the media portrayal of him and his band mates. The only person who was able to calm him down and make him feel better was his best friend, Louis Tomlinson. On this particular night that we're looking into, Harry was feeling more homesick and more upset than ever.

The tour bus was moving along a lonely road that stretched out at least 50 miles. An occasional bump or shift in the speed of the bus caused the five boys to stir in their sleep. However, it was not a bump or bang that awoke Louis Tomlinson that night. Quiet sobs were elicited from the younger boy in which Louis shared a room with. Turning over in his own cot, he saw the glow of a screen lighting up Harry's face. Tears were streaming out of his eyes as a hand covered his mouth, attempting to not wake up his friends at the ungodly hour of 3 a.m.
"Are you alright Harry?" Louis whispered, starting to shift the covers off of himself.
His best friends voice seemed to echo in Harry's head. Was he alright? He was crying, after all. Management always told him not to cry, but it was Modest that got Harry into this crying mess in the first place!
Before Harry knew it, he was embraced in two strong arms. He didn't even notice the other boy get up from his bed, let alone approach him.
"Is it some dumb journalist or reporter? I thought I told you to ignore those, love." Love. The word rolled off of both of the boys tongues so easily, but they wanted more than just to call each other love platonically. They wanted something more. Something that includes actual real love, not just a word. Of course, they would never admit that to each other.
"They bombarded me with questions and called me a womanizer and then took pictures of me crying afterwards!" Harry sobbed onto his best friends shoulder. "I hate putting up that stupid bad boy persona! I hate that you can't show what you're confident in anymore! Why can't we just break away from Modest?I miss home!" Harry's head now laid in the older boys lap as he talked all of his troubles away. Throughout all of the nights stuck traveling on the tour bus or staying in hotels together, Harry would have the occasional complaint about what people said about him in the media. No matter how many times Louis tried to get him off of his phone so he wouldn't focus on their words, Harry still found a way to see what people would say about him.
As Louis mindlessly played with Harry's hair, he debated on what to say. Did Harry really want him to express himself? He had a gut feeling that Harry already knew is big secret that MM was trying to suppress. He had been reciprocating all month long, if Louis wasn't reading the signals wrong. He didn't want to spill his big secret if there was a chance that others were listening, but now was as good of a time as any.
"Harry, you know we can't break away from our management out of the blue."
"But-"
"I know it's hard, but we just have to survive a tiny bit longer until our contract ends. You know the reason why they try to suppress my personality?"
Harry picked his head up off on Louis' lap and instead sat upright against the wall his bed laid against. "Why?"
"Because I'm gay. They already guessed and they don't want the public to know."
"You're gay?" Louis started to panic. Did he say something wrong? Did Harry dislike gay people?
"W-why do you say it like that?" Louis started to pull away from his best friend, but Harry immediately grabbed his hand and led him back onto the bed.
"I support you, Lou. And truth be told, I think I might be bisexual, but I don't want to put any labels on myself." It was the other boys turn to be surprised now.
"Really? All this time when you've been..." Louis glanced at his captivated partner. The bus slowly rocked as it continued on the long road, causing Harry's long-ish hair to fall victim to his hands which were constantly running through it. "when you've been flirting... was it a joke?"
"Of course not! I think... I really think I like you." Harry turned away just to have his chin grasped lightly by Louis. Turning his face towards him, Louis made eye contact with the boy.
"I really think I like you too." Louis moved his face in until it was mere inches from his best friends. "Can I-" Before he could get out any other words, Harry caught Louis' lips with his. The two boys broke away; they had finally gotten what they had wanted. To kiss the other boy.
"So are we... boyfriends?" Harry inquired.
"Only if you want-"
"I would love to."
"But we can't tell anyone else." Louis turned around as the door to their room on the bus opened.
"You can't tell anyone else what?" Liam's voice rings out. Crap.
"Are you guys finally together?" Questioned Niall.
"Uh..." Harry looked towards the older boy who immediately took over for him. Louis knew that Harry hated lying and hated being out of the norm.
"Yes, we are. We would love it if you supported us-"
"Damn it!" Zayne shouts, taking out his wallet and handing five dollars to a grinning Niall. "You couldn't have waited until tour was over?"
When the boys had finally cleared out, Harry and Louis were alone again. Louis moved to get up only to arise pleading noises from his boyfriend.
"Could you maybe... sleep in bed with me tonight? I'm feeling a little homesick and upset and-"
"Of course I will, love. Let me get my pillows." There it was again. Love. Did they love each other? Neither of the boys knew the answer to that question, but as Louis cuddled up to Harry that night he could swear he heard the younger boy mumble something along the lines of an "I love you"
