Steel's POV:
What Commander Forge has just told me and Max, is a bit of a shocker. But then again, it's to be expected at this point. Makino doesn't ever want to stay dead, which is annoying.
My thoughts are interrupted by a rumbling, letting Max and I know that we're preparing to take off, to travel to this new universe. Earlier, I had talked to Berto and then some more with Forge about how the travel works. Berto told me that essentially how our universes worked to allow us to fly between them, is that they are in the same place, overhanging each other, but they are in different dimensions to each other and evolving at varying rates.
So all the inhabitants are different, but the actual worlds are the same, just in different planes of existence.
So how we travelled was by going through spacetime rifts, And that's simplifying what he said. Forge just said that it didn't really matter, only stopping Makino did. He was just being his typical secretive self.
Since Max and I had already been warned it was going to be a bumpy ride, when I felt the jump-jet take off, I immediately link back with Max so I wouldn't whizz everywhere when we cross the frontier. The final frontier you might say.
Max's POV:
I can sense Steel thinking, so he's most likely being a smartass again and thinking about how the leap works. As we depart from the ground, or really the Daedulus platform, Steel links back into the steel suit, as to not be hovering projectile when it gets turbulent. As we fly higher and higher, up past the clouds and into the outer atmosphere, I hear Steel thinking. Something about the final frontier. Trust my bud to say something like that. I mentally laugh at him, and I think he overhears because then he demands to know what I'm laughing about.
Nothing, why? I ask.
"Because you were laughing out loud and now Forge is staring at us," Steel points out.
Ah, so he is.
Steel and I continue to talk for a while until Uncle Ferrus discontinues it by clearing his throat.
"Hold on tight everyone, it's getting rough now," he warns.
Jefferson replies with, "Hold onto your food everyone."
The jump-jet begins to rock violently, bucking up and down like a leaf caught up in a gust of wind. Everything starts shaking inside and I hear a few other people gasp and point to the front. My eyes follow their fingers and in front of us, what we're heading towards, is another Earth. We can see through the rift in "space-time" so we can see this other Earth now. I can only tell that it's different because it has a big space station circling it in orbit whereas we have the Daedulus platform in the upper atmosphere.
I turn to Berto, "What is that platform for?" I ask curiously.
"For space environment research duh. Probably," Steel mutters.
"Sh Steel not now," I snap back.
Berto turns around, "Steel's maybe right. It could very well be a space lab since it's well... in space. So these version of people might be doing experiments in space. Which does tell us they are quite developed to have the technology to have a space station." states Berto, answering my question whilst also biggering Steel's ego.
