*Should sex education including the use of contraceptives be included in the basic education curriculum?
Putting sex education on the basic education is not a problem for me especially that this is made to lessen the case of unwanted pregnancy among teens. This program had received a lot of opposition from parents, christian groups and many non-government sectors due to its negative impact to the students. They said that it is like teaching the youths that in sex education, premarital sex is way common especially that giving contraceptives to the students was also announced.
Yes, this may affect the mindset of the youths but it is in someone's decision on whether entering unacceptable deeds or not. Sex education will help raise awareness of the youth to prepare then for the task ahead them-- building their own family since family planning is part of the sex education. This will provide them different ideas about their conduct and relationship with others.
Many opposed this since traditionally, it is not a norm for us to be given any sexual information. But we are in now in a modern society, a reality that we must accept. Youths informally get sexual informations from friends and anything that they read and see from social media. Even without proper sex education currently, youths are already exposed on different informations about sexuality due to various platforms of media nowadays. This sex education is proposed for protection, improvement and development of good families and good society, at large. It is better to have formal education and let the sex education be taught on basic education curriculum.
