Parties used to be Olivia's scene, to the extent where John B would often 'forget' to invite her in fear of embarrassment. However, for obvious circumstances she's now more of a wallflower. Doesn't drink, keeps mostly to herself and avoids any drama. Hence the reason why she's sat talking with a Touron. Touron's are like the Switzerland of the OBX. Not only did they not know anyone that may cause a scene, if you were to say or do something embarrassing in front of them it wouldn't matter, as they're gone within a week.
Somehow, the poor brunette boy was entertained by her retellings of the books she was currently reading, the same can't be said for how much Olivia enjoyed the stories of him scoring the winning goal to win them the football state championship for his team back home. Eventually it got to the point where she'd just nod and smile along whilst she searched the crowd for one of her friends. Her eyes find Kie talking to some guy about her astrology, Pope talking the ear off some poor girl over science and becoming a coroner of all things. John B was flirting with some Touron up in a tree and JJ was chugging a beer. Olivia quickly snapped back to her company, tired of their conversation she says "I'll be back, just going to get a drink." Obviously, she was not planning on going back or to get a drink. She was off to save some poor guy about why Scorpios are supposedly the worst star sign.
She walks over to Kie and sits with her as she talks more about astrology, chiming in now and again with nothing really useful other than "I'm a Leo." Eventually the Touron leaves, leaving just the two girls. "So are we just not gonna talk about what's going on with you and my brother?" Olivia confronts. "Sorry what?" Kie practically spits out her drink as a deep crimson covers her cheeks. "You cannot tell me you don't like him, there's so something there." "Why would you think that?" "I don't know maybe the 'be careful' gave it away, I don't remember getting one of those." Olivia smirks. "Hypothetically speaking, even if I did want to I couldn't, no Pogue on Pogue macking remember," Kie answers, "But no, I don't like him like that. He's like my brother." Still not totally convinced, but not wanting to press further Olivia replies, "Okay, but if you really don't like him I think you should tell him as JJ's been feeding him all sorts to try to get him to make a move." "Yeah don't worry, I'll talk to him at some point."
The pair then get up to go and find John B who has now finished with his Touron at the edge of the boneyard. They all joke around until someone catches Kiara's attention, "What is she doing here?!" and both Routledge siblings turn to look at who she's staring at. It's the one and only Kook princess. Sarah Cameron. She was Kiara's best friend in the 9th grade and worst enemy in the 10th grade. She's the daughter of the guy that owns the boat John B works on, and she's dating this Kook called Topper. He actually thinks Pogues were bred to mow lawns.
They turn back around to see Kie having stormed off to another Touron and Olivia leaves her brother to find one of the other boys. She spots JJ talking with a group of Pogues and Tourons and make her way over. Unfortunately she's stopped by a Kook. Anyone could tell from his polo shirt and slicked back hair that he's a pretentious snob. Having moved his shades away from his eyes he's recognisable as Rafe Cameron, Sarah's older, crackhead brother. "Watch where you're going. Dirty pogue. Maybe you should lose some weight so you'd stop taking up so much space." he spits, shoving into her shoulder as he walks past. The sharpness of his words carry straight through her as a voice inside her is unlocked to remind her again of her size and how she'll never be perfect.
Looking for comfort, she immediately rescans the boneyard for any of her friends, only to see a huge crowd gathering at the shore. All she can hear is a crowd cheering over a fight. JJ, Pope and Kie are all at the front staring in shock as she runs towards them. "What's going on?"she asks, wiping her tears away, hoping they've gone unnoticed by her friends, then she looks over at the two teens rolling in the sand, its her brother and Topper. Unfortunately she wasn't as discreet as she thought as JJ grabs her hand, voice filled with concern, "Have you been crying?" "It doesn't matter right now, we need to break this up," she brushes him off, casting her eyes back onto the two teens. Thankfully John B has the upper hand as he drills his fist into Topper's head. She can't say she's a fan of violence at all, but at least John B seemed to be winning.
