Trigger Warning

Arthur took a step back and slowly rolled up his sleeves. He unraveled the bandages from pale arms.

Alfred let out a shocked gasp as he took in the sight. He lifted up Arthur’s left arm, the one with the deep scar. He traced a finger over it, and looked up at Arthur.

“When was this?”

“A few months ago..”

“It looks more recent than that.”

“I-It was two weeks ago..”

Alfred pulled the Brit into another hug.

“What happened? Was it because of your dad?”

“Yeah, it was.. But it was mostly my fault, I just-”

“Arthur. This is no way in hell this your fault. This is your dad’s fault.”

“It feels like it was my fault..”

“What did he do?”

Arthur looked to the floor. He didn’t know how to say it. He never thought he’d ever tell someone.

“Arthur? Did he hit you? What did he do?”

“He.. He was mad, blamed me for what happened three years ago..”

“What happened three years ago?”

“My mum was sick, doctors couldn’t figure out what it was.. She had a fever so high and she just..”

Arthur began to cry.

“After having me, she continued to get sick, no one knew why. It was only after she had me, not after she had my other brothers. Even they blame me for her getting sick.”

“Arthur.. That’s horrible.. How many people know?”

“Admittedly, not many. Francis knows, and now you. Just you two.”

“Arthur.. I’m so sorry you’re going through this..”

“It’s fine.. There’s not really a lot I can do about it until I move out, and I’ve been saving up money for years now, and I-”

“Arthur, I hate to say it, but I don’t think that’s a good plan.”

“I think it is.”

“What if you end up getting hurt? Something could happen if you go out on your own.”

“Well, that’s true, but maybe nothing will happen.”

“I may not know a lot, but I do know that that reason is a load of bullshit.”

Arthur chuckled.

“You’re right, but I don’t really have anywhere else to stay.”

Alfred sighed, and pulled some food out of his bag.

“The bell is gonna ring soon. Let’s just eat in here for now.”

“Okay.”

Alfred handed Arthur a slightly cold burger.

“This is from last night, I snuck some cuz I love my mom’s cookin’.”

“My mum was never much of a cook before she passed. Dad would always force her too, but he always helped. He was always a jerk but he always made up for it somehow. That’s why mum stayed with him.”

“Oh..”

“You don’t have to say anything about it. Your mum sounds really nice though.”
