modern au"Right over here, Miss Kocho!"
A short and petite woman swiftly walks over to the bar of a cafe, reaching out for a creamy brown cup filled to the brim with cold iced coffee.
"It can't be good for you to have so many coffees in such a short amount of time, can it?"
"I don't really care. It's a small price to pay to get me through my exams."
The young man leaning over the counter gives her a friendly smile as he hands her the beverage. She slips him her pay with a couple of extra coins before going back to her claimed booth seat.
Shinobu had been residing in that very booth since the beginning of her first year in college, and almost all the regulars knew better than to sit with her in it. Her warnings of annoyance were scarier than words, rather it be the aggressive typing on her laptop or the deadly glare she would give you over the screen.
Miss Kocho isn't the only mysterious regular among the warm family-owned cafe. A tall man with long black hair tied back into a ponytail is just as ominous as she is. He's the silent type, and you're lucky to even hear him order. Many say he claims that talking is a hinderance and frankly, 'a waste of time.'
"Ma'am, we'll be closing soon. We have to clear people out at 8pm, but please take your time."
"Alright. I'll finish up quickly."
"Thank you very much."
The short woman nods as the employee walks away, running her fingers through her short black hair. Her purple eyes glance over to the small digital clock on the corner of her screen which displays the digits, 7:40.
'I have some time left. If I can finish typing up this assignment, then I can easily finish my work for the day."
Unfortunately, Shinobu suffers with a severe case of after-caffeine crash.
Her eyes are half lidded as she finishes up her paragraph, and as the finale of the sentence appears on the screen she lays her head down on the table with a sigh. The whooping seven iced coffees she had chugged in the last day churning in her stomach like a garbage disposal.
"Just a few minute nap won't hurt anyone. I deserve a reward for busting my ass all day anyways~~"

It's a chilly hand tapping her shoulder that wakes her up from her peaceful slumber.
"Hey, lady. This cafe closes in about a minute, so I suggest you pack up."
Shinobu can feel her eyebrow twitch in annoyance as she lifts her head to tell of the man, but instead gasp in surprise once she sees who's standing beside her.
The famously silent Tomika looks down at her, his deep blue eyes clouded amusement. He raises an eyebrow at her shocked expression before flicking her forehead.
"What's that dumb look for, Miss?"
Shinobu can feel a vein already protruding on her forehead as she rebuttals.
