(this is a continuation of "number"!)
after a mysterious encounter in the waiting room of kimetsu hospital, the eldest kamado sister nezuko takes up an offer from a flirtatious blonde
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵"Ah— Nezuko! You're really gonna go? What if he turns out to be some kind of weirdo?" Tanjiro exclaims, hands waving around frantically as his younger sister applies lipgloss in the mirror.
"I promise it'll be fine! He didn't seem like the kind of guy to be a pervert or anything."
"If he does anything bad, I'll bash his skull in!" A teenage boy with girlish looks declares, cracking his knuckles.
"Best not to do that Inosuke, you'll probably go to jail." Nezuko laughs, before muttering under be breath; Why does it feel like I have two older brothers now?
It's Saturday afternoon, a day after the fated encounter during her father's hospital scare. Moments after he had left the room for his visit Tanjiro arrived and was presented with the letter.
When Nezuko had told him that she fully planned on going, he insisted that he should go with her to ensure her safety— but after an hour of convincing, he settled on just walking her there instead. And of course; his best friend Inosuke was accompanying him too.
So now, here they were. Inosuke stretched out lazily on her bed, using his "make yourself at home!" from Nezuko to the fullest; while Tanjiro stood behind his sister pacing frantically.
"Oh hey—it's 2:57." Inosuke comments, almost too nonchalantly.
The news shocks her so bad she almost drops her curling iron on her thigh, and she exclaims out in frustration. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?!"
Yanking the plug from the wall and running her fingers through her curled locks quickly, she grabs up her purse and rushes out the door despite her brothers protest.
I'm gonna be late!
"Oi-- Mebuzo! Wait up!"
Nezuko rushes down the stairs, nearly tripping over the last few in her rush to the doorway. Her entourage chases behind her, and one of them actually does slip on the steps; judging by the scream he lets out, it's Inosuke.
"Crap-- Inosuke!!" Her brother's voice rings out, his tone clearly annoyed but also hinted with concern.
"Sorry, I gotta go!"
She slips on her shoes, a pair of white sneakers to compliment the pastel outfit she's wearing, and then rushes out the door; not even giving her brother a moment to yell out to her.
The sun isn't the only thing beating down onto her back as she rushes down the sidewalk, the eyes of older citizens who can hardly walk without canes and older mothers holding babies and giving her nasty glares as she dashes across the pavement.
The judgement from them flies right over her head as she turns the next corner, not having a care in the world for their opinion and more focused on not being late for the date she had been anticipating for the past 24 hours.
Thankfully, the cafe is just right up ahead.
Nezuko picks up her pace, her light jog picking up into a sprint as the cafe comes into sight. And as if it's some kind of omen, the blunt end of her sneak gets caught on a dip in the sidewalk.
