Bloody Mess

Chapter 1: A Royal Task

Long ago in the magical land of Equestria the princess of the night had created two special groups to behold her lovely nights. One being the Weres changing into vicious beasts to hunt and stalk in the night and the Vamponies. The bloodsuckers given power under the watchful eye of there night mother. Even after her return to Equestria these groups exist and on Nightmare Night the longest night of the year it is up to Nightshade a Vampony to make sure the Nightly creatures are kept sane in there quest for feeding on the crimson liquid that flows in every creature.

Nightshade ran through the halls of the castle from his emergency summons. He was panicking due to it being so close to the longest night of the year. He still had may preparations to make and many blood delivery for the various Wereponies and Vamponies in Equestria. The throne room doors flew open as he skids to a halt in front of the Princesses.

"Celestia. Luna... I got your summons" Nightshade panted. "I hope I can be of assistance despite my... Current duties"

Luna looked confused. "Captain Night I did not summon you?"

"I did Luna. Captain, I require your assistance with a very important matter. I need you to watch over somepony for me" Celesta giving her kind smile as Nightshades eye twitched.

"N-no disrespect Celestia but... You do realize I have no time for recon due to... Other things" Nightshade gulped as Luna dismissed the guards.

"Yes sister dear. Nightshade has plenty of work to do with Nightmare Night coming up. The Nightly creatures need to be tended too" Luna looking shocked.

Celestia gave an amused grin. "I know you two are worried but there is no recon involved. You see Prince ace has been rather... Distant due to certain circumstances. I just need someone to babysit him for a few days while I sort some personal problem out."

Nightshade nodding. "So I babysit the prince? Isn't he an adult why not just sent him to one of the nightmare night pa-"

"Please Nightshade. I need your help" Celestia giving a pleading look. Nightshade knew he could say now he looked at luna who gave a Defeated look towards her sister. He sighed taking a deep breath.

"Ok, ill do it. But a question if I may, Nightmo- I mean Luna does he know?" Nightshade giving a hopeful glance of not having to sneak around.

"Sadly no. He does not Celestia thought it would... Too overwhelming for him to learn of the Inner Circle and the Creatures I had made all those Moons ago"

Nightshade gave a defeated grunt seeing no way out of this task. "Ok, have him escorted to my manor in Ponyville please. I'll do my best to keep an eye on him while completing my duties"

"Thank you so much Nightshade. I promise he shouldn't be a burden" Celestia gave a bright motherly smile while Luna gave a look of concern.

He smiled back nodding. "I will be off then" he teleported home giving a quick thought but dismissing it. "I wonder why she treats him like a child. It's like she's his mother." Nightshade chuckled picking up the phone dialing in a few favors so he can continue his work.

"Its gonna be a long Week" he thought hearing the growl of one of his oldest friends on the other end of the line.
