Chapter 7: Chaotic Past

Nightshade sat with an ace while he slept thinking of the small list of possible creatures Aces father could be the clock ticking then day by as ace slept through most of it into the night when Ace woke up to the rising of the moon.

Nightshade looked like he had been pondering Life while deliveries where made to Vampire and Werewolf alike on the day before Nightmare night. He could feel the pull of lunas Night ever approaching making him sigh.

"Maybe I should have waited for after nightmare night" he sighed when he heard a knock at his door. Nightshade was confused answering the door the Moons light hitting him in the face as there was no one on his porch.

"Haha not funny!" He yelled to the darkness using his vampiric hearing not hearing a heartbeat. "Weird." Nightshade closed the door.

"Well, Nightshade seems you're the babysitter for my sweet little chaosling." Nightshade turning as magical darkness filled the room like a fog. A set if yellow eyes glowing in them the magic emanating was unbound and chaotic a familiar feeling he felt before.

"Discord why are you here" Nightshade growled defensively as the darkness vanished with discord standing in a green suit with a blond wig. A quiver was full of arrows and bow on his back.

"I'm heading home from my Odgers and Oobliets game. Celestia sent me a letter about my son having a babysitter and that he had some new abilities I should see" Discord smiled as Nightshade scanned his chaotic for a sign of deception finding none.

"Wait... Hold on your... You?" Nightshade struggled to compute the thought like a computer on the fritz.

"The father of Prince ace yes of coarse!" Discords laugh woke up Ace with a startling jolt.

"Dad?. What you doing here it's early" Ace yawned. "Shouldn't you get ready for OnO?"

"Ace it 10 pm you've been asleep since we left" Nightshade stated as both ace and Nightshades stomachs growled in unison.

Ace licked his lips as Nightshade floated two bags of blood from the kitchen. "Yes, ace does have new powers," Nightshade smirked as he poured the blood pack into a whiskey glass. "Vampiric to be perfectly clear" Discord and Nightshade watching Ace tear into the bag making a mess of the couch and carpet.

"Wow," Discord responded seeming both worried and excited at the same time.

"Don't worry. He's just a youngling, Celestia told me to watch him while he's like this" taking a sip from his glass.

"What insane creature turned him I swear ill-"

"It was his choice first of. And second, I'm the one who did it" Nightshade chuckled as Discords pissed glare humming to himself. "Hey when you're a sheltered prince you would rebel to isn't that your whole thing Dissy?~ Chaos?" Nightshade chuckled. Making the chaos god growl.

"Yes but" he growled then took a deep breath. "Never the less just keep my boy safe. Ace ill be back tomorrow I have a character to update tonight" Discord teleported away.

"Wow, you really get under my dad's skin. How do you know each other?" Ace asked blushed as Nightshade wiped his face.

"Well. I am old me and your father used to be... Acquaintances, chaos magic, and dark magic fit together well but to much of the two can make simple spells cataclysmic. He wanted to use his magic to take Equestria for his own. I saw a path of darkness and mystery, not chaos and power." Nightshade sighed. "We fought. A long fight his brainwashed army against me... My Clan at the time"

"Clan?" Ace perked up.

"Yes. Purebloods typically rule overturned ponies making a clan. The turned follow the Pureblood and follow his or her orders to the letter. I had a strong clan." Nightshade gave a faint but pained smile.

"What happened to them?"

Nightshade stood silent for a moment then sighed. "A few things. Nightmare mood had happened. After luna was banished Celestia asumed the creatures of the night would follow in her hoofsteps. Celestia slaughtered any and all-powerful clans in a vain attempt to keep the peace." Nightshade sighed at the look of horror on Aces' face. "Me and a few others helpt parts of clans hide. But... I never took a clan after that. My clan was killed and I am the only surviving member. After I confronted your mother... She banned the silver horseshoes and made me the leader of the lunar guard. I spent a bitter 200 years doing it. Guiding Celestia when I could and keeping creatures of the night safe from her power and the SH." He looked at Ace who looked like a bag of mixed emotions.

"Hey. Come on ace. Celestia was a different mare then she is now. I don't blame her. To be honest I probably would have done the same." Nightshade chuckled.

"But she... She killed a lot of people you knew. And more you didn't!" Ace yelled stomping leaving a horseshoe imprint in the wooden floor.

"Ace. I know you have your issues with your mother. But when you are old like me and her, and you never age you have all of eternity to look back on your mistakes. Celestia accepts what she has done and tries to do better. Something I have tried as well."

"Must you be cryptic?" Ace huffed.

Nightshade chuckled and walked outside into his back yard. The pool freshly cleaned and sparkling in the night. "Ace. My clan is gone. There is nothing I could do about it. I never made a new one and the current territory is owned by a pony who ddoesn'tmind my guidance and presence. This manor is all I have left. And to be honest it has made me a few names and legends in our would. The beast angel. The Lone fang. The shadow. Ill omens. The wanderer. And... The Silver Master" nightshade spoke the last name with disgust.

"I take it you don't like that one?" Ace chuckled.

"Its... Complicated" Nightshade sighed. "Ace. You know that switch that weird one that says do not touch?"

"The one next to the stuffed bear or the one on the wall in the armory?"

"The armory. If... If something happens tomorrow night and i... Get hurt. I need you to push the button. But there is something. To it... Youll find everything different but the same. I might be different. I want you to know that..."

"Ok?... Night where is this coming from" Ace looked at him with concern.

"Darkstar. I don't know if he's planned anything. But I'm worried just promise me you'll do that for me?"

"Alright... I will" Ace chuckled as the two dove into the pool swimming until dawn.
