A/N: PLEASE READ BELOW
I have been strongly debating whether or not to continue with this story for a while, after a friend of mine pointed out that it could be interpreted as being racially led (with the main character being rejected for having a black wolf). It was never my intension to make this story about race, but simply about the character being raised with a certain expectation that she failed to meet through no fault of her own, and knowing their is no change she can make to meet those standards.
I've spent a few weeks trying to find ways to edit previous chapters, and the story as a whole, to remove any possible connections to race but it ended up changing the story to something I didn't want it to be. I considered just deleting the story, but the more stories I read, the more inspired I became to continue this one. I have decided to just leave it as it is but to let you all know, that this story has no relations to racial discrimination.
I'm sorry if anyone was effected or offended by the story, that was never my intention and I'm incredibly sorry, but I am extremely excited about the plot idea and don't want to stop now for something that isn't even part of the story. I want to make it clear that Miquaela isn't being ridiculed for having a black wolf, but is being ridiculed because she was being worshipped for being something that she isn't. Her pack had hope that she would protect them in a rogue war and end all battles, but they were instantly hit with the fact that she isn't their protector and instead is just another average wolf who they wasted time and resources on protecting for so long.
Once again, I'm sorry and I'm going to try to keep up with updating from now on.
Anyway, with that said, we've got image references for Miquaela's parents and their wolves ^
This is a long chapter because I'm trying to get to the main story quicker for you but when I start writing, the story sort of carries itself and I get carried away.
A/N: One final thing, I have used italics to represent writing in this chapter. Just know that they aren't flashbacks
...................................................
Its been a few days now since we first arrived at the cottage, and its the most alive Mishka and I have felt in years.
After the little heart to heart we all had on night one, things have slowly been building back up to how they were before I shifted. I still struggle to express my thoughts at times, and there are still moments where I have to vacate to my room if things become too overwhelming, but things are improving.
As promised, I let Mishka out for her first real run a few days ago and she definitely took advantage of it. I woke up at 4am and left a note to say that I was going to explore, and we didn't return until 9:48 that night. I took a step back to rest fully, and let Mishka have full reign. How she returned covered head to tail in mud, sawdust, and seaweed I'll never know.
I can't blame her though. It was the first time in her entire life that she was able to come out without any fear of being spotted or beaten. Plus, I wasn't exactly in any rush to take control again.
This routine of taking advantage of our sudden freedom continued for a few days. I would wake up and have breakfast with mum and dad, talk a little, go for a family run with our wolves, come home for lunch, go out alone either in human or wolf form, return for dinner, and then have some sort of family time. This family time could involve talking, playing games, or simply just sitting in the same room watching TV, but I could tell that mum treasured every night the same.
I have spent so much time outside, I haven't really gotten around to exploring the cottage. I haven't really seen any rooms besides the Livingroom, kitchen, and my bedroom. Going to sleep last night, I had decided to dedicate this morning to simply exploring the house.
