Chapter 1 – Kidnapped Time!

Yawning, I awoke, freezing the moment my eyes fluttered open. Strange surroundings and smells welcomed my rested body. The sun rising over the distant trees was all I could see outside the single, barred window.

Cautiously, I rose from the bed I awoke on. The first thing I noticed was a change of clothes that sat beside a red lava lamp on a desk across the small room. Aside from that, I noticed a minifridge, and two separate doors. One was extremely reinforced, that nearly no one would be able to escape through that means. The other door lead into a small bathroom with the essential hygiene products.

One of the many possibilities was that this was a prank set forward by my dull coven. "Okay!" I yelled. "It's not funny anymore!" The lack of response dashed that hope. Instead, I crouched to the ground and analyzed the smells in the area. Mountains. My kind were nowhere close by, further dashing my hopes.

In conclusion, I had been kidnapped.

The telephone attached to the wall rang, nearly scaring me back to life. I picked it up and put it to my ear, starting with a friendly "What do you want?"

"Straight to the point, I see, L/N." said a man's low voice in Japanese.

"I'm not going to repeat myself after this. What. Do. You. Want?"

"Nothing too alarming. Just listen to my proposal."

"Alright. Go on."

"We need someone to assassinate a schoolteacher."

"What? You kidnapped me to kill a teacher?"

"He's no ordinary teacher. Do you recall the surname Yanagisawa?"

I cringed at a memory of terror. "Yes. I do. I thought the government shut him down."

"It did, but he continued his work underground, even after the failures-."

"We weren't failures." I ground my teeth together.

"Yes- sorry. You and your group were successful, more or less." He paused. "One of his final experiments- he escaped. At the moment he is a teacher at a prep school in Japan, actually, you're located in the very building he teaches in."

"You're kidding."

"No- I'm not." He paused again. "We need him assassinated. Do you recall the moon incident earlier this year?"

"Of course. It made my life a whole lot easier."

"Right- well, he is the one who caused the moon to explode. He threatens to do the same to the earth. All the world leaders are putting up their most experienced assassins, and I think you, as the only assassin of-" he must have been trying to find a non-offensive word. "-your kind are capable of doing the deed. You're strong, faster, more intelligent... the most elite."

"I guess I have to agree. I don't suppose you'd let me leave alive otherwise."

"Affirmative. I will prompt my men to escort you to the classroom. Everything has been situated. Your task is to blend in with the students as best you can and kill the teacher. You have a time limit, and that is till the end of the school year."

"Do you have my food set, as-well?"

"Yes. The best we could situate is located in the mini fridge across the room. If a live subject is required, please notify me. The number is written on a paper on the desk."

"Aside from the 'no-other-choice' business, thank you for this enticing opportunity."

"Thank my higher-ups... They thought you would be perfect for the job. Also, the reward is ten billion yen."

I choked, thinking I was not going to get paid. "Damn. Well, thank you and goodbye. My throat aches."

"Goodbye, L/N."

Setting the telephone back onto the receiver, I opened the mini fridge. My mouth began to salivate. The entirety of the fridge was filled with water bottles of various blood-types, most of which were type Negative-O, which was a delicacy among my kind. It was why it is so rare.

I could not tell who it was they wanted me to kill, there were too many people in that God forsaken place. Only time would tell.
