Chapter 7 – Study for Midterms Time...?
[Your POV]
To my dismay, the weather began getting warmer. The tree's leaves were bright green and flowers were popping up everywhere. This also led to the dreaded first midterm in the year.
Koro Sensei was mad. Why, you ask? Well, his students weren't motivated to study, being mainly Terasaka's group, but that wasn't new. Everyone in the class seemed to be relying on thoughts of the reward money killing Koro Sensei comes with. But like Koro Sensei said, it's always good to have a plan B. He even got Bitch Sensei to admit that, and it still didn't seem to be enough motivation for the class. So, that's when these words come into play:
"If you guys don't get into the top fifty students, I'm going to leave forever!"
"WHAT?!" everyone yelled, besides me, of course.
"Of course, I'm here to help you study." He said.
With that, Koro Sensei went into ultra-gear and managed to clone himself to help us all study at once. Me being the smart person I am, did feel the need to study, but Koro Sensei, being the way he is, forced me to study. It was probably for the best.
As the clone studying continued on, the clones started getting really wacky. If their eyes had been a little faster, they would see Koro Sensei running back and forth in between students. Unfortunately, due to the speed of my body, I couldn't study as well as the others, as you might realize that watching someone frantically run around cutting off everything he's saying and starting and stopping twenty-seven different conversations is very distracting. How he did it, I have no clue. I would not have been able to keep track of all the conversations and syllables I would have to stop and start at.
"Aren't you tired?" asked someone.
"I covered that! One of me is resting outside!"
I sweat-dropped and glanced outside, seeing him "relaxing" in an outdoor reclining chair, reading a magazine.
All of a sudden, Koro Sensei's head swerved in on itself, startling most the class. "Karma~kun! No assassination attempts during studying!!"
We all looked at Karma, who was sticking his tongue out, faking innocence, even though we could all see his hand holding out the knife that was in the round, concave angle Koro Sensei made in his face to dodge it. The least we could do for our Sensei was not try to kill him during our studying time.
I'm sure he had some weird fantasy about getting us good grades, possibly us fawning over him and loving him so much we refused to kill him, but at least his ulterior motives were basically innocent. Actually, they probably involved breasts as well, so maybe not the most innocent motives, but he tried to get us good grades, nonetheless. Honestly, I think it might have been a better idea to school us in our best subjects, rather than worst, because we might have had a chance to making the top spots.
"Hey, Y/N~chan?" asked a feminine voice from above.
"Hm?" I looked up to see Kayano. I think she realized I had been purposely ignoring her and the rest of the people who considered me a friend in the past week.
"You remember that camping trip I mentioned last moth?"
I wracked my brain for a millisecond. "Uhm, yeah? What about it?"
"You still up to go with us?"
"Sure."
"Okay, the weekend after the next we're going to go. What's your address? We can pick you up at your house-."
"Uh, no. We can meet at – uh – Karma's house."
"Okay...!" she seemed startled by my change in her plans.
At the end of the week, it was time to take the midterm exams. The entire school week had been filled with ruthless studying with Koro Sensei. After this week of intense clone-studying, I would not be surprised if Koro Sensei went to Iceland or Hawaii for a weekend vacation.
Making my down to the main campus at the base of the mountain, I met up with the rest of the class, who had been waiting for the exams to start. Every student was forced to take the exams in the main building. In other words, Class E was in what it considered enemy territory.
All on edge, Class E filled into exam room after exam room. The most grueling test was the math test. The teacher tapped his finger loudly against his desk. Class E for the most part struggled at first during that test, but eventually gained confidence and moved forward, only to be dead in their tracks by an impossible question.
I could feel their fear – their fear of losing the reward for killing our teacher – their fear of just plain losing Koro Sensei. He was a good teacher. I tried using what power I had to sooth their fear, but it didn't help. I knew they were going to fail the test regardless of their confidence level.
I had never paid attention to the words our teachers said – I didn't need to. I knew all the material already. I had graduated from college already. I hadn't realized they put something on the test we hadn't learned in class. I found out I had been mistaken.
