Everything is doomed to end at one point or the other, but sitting still didn't seem like an option. However after 2 hours of scrubbing and cleaning and doing everything to keep my mind preoccupied there was nothing left to get a hold of with the house spotless and all.

He was late. Really late.

He also had not thought to take his cell phone (which was now neatly laid out on the bedside table) with him before heading out, so I had no means of contacting him. After pacing around the house seemingly to no ends, I decided to wait a little longer before doing anything irrational. There had to be a perfectly logical reason to why he got held up. Playing the role of the sitting duck on the other hand was not in my disposition. Whilst waiting among the sheets, that my lover and I were once tangled in, i reached over to where i knew he usually left a loaded pistol under his pillow. Jason didn't take any chances; while one might call him a paranoid fellow I knew that his line of work required that he be on guard at any moment of time. I was met with striking cool of the metal, and although I did not dare pull it out, I allowed my hand to rest on the handle. The weapon somewhat calmed my chilled nerves, but not for the most apparent reason. God knows I didn't know how to shoot a fire arm. It calmed me because I knew that this was Jason's favorite pistol. It had its sentiments, and if he had a smidge of suspicion that something were to go wrong it was the first thing he would have reached for before leaving.

Shortly, I began dozing off to his woodsy scent which had seeped into every corner of the sheets.

But, before getting completely sucked into the appealing darkness, a thought as clear as day materialized itself right before my unopened eyes.

Jason never had to go looking for trouble to find signs of it. It followed him. Everywhere

and with that startled I swiftly sat back up banging my head on the headboard in sync with the unforgiving rhythm of the:

"tick tock"

"tick tock"

"tick tock"
