Squirrelflight's death
---

CHAPTER ONE

"Greystripe, you can lead the sunhigh patrol, you can chose few cats to come with you, I'll also come," Squirrelflight ordered to the grey tom. He nodded, turned and padded towards the fresh-kill pile. The she-cat looked up, delicate, light pink stroked the soft blue light of the sky, half way blotted out by long, thin clouds. The sun had almost risen all the way out of horizon. Squirrelflight pulled her gaze away from the beautiful sight.
The ginger she-cat headed across the clearing, towards highledge. She had an important question for Bramblestar. She could smell his sweet scent behind the lichen. "Bramblestar?" She called, then heard a rustle and an answer, "come in, Squirrelflight," the she-cat entered, finding him in his bed of moss with a half-eaten raven in front of himself. "My apprentice- Lilypaw, her final exam went impressively well. I think it's time for her to become a full warrior," she smiled down at him, hoping for a good answer. "Very well, then. Her ceremony will take place at dusk," Squirrelflight puffed up her chest in pride.

Greystripe, Berrynose, Thornclaw, Lionblaze and Squirrelflight swiftly padded through the hot green-leaf forest. The sun blazed down, hotter than ever. Even the long shadows of the trees couldn't keep the forest cool. The five cats were all looking forward to a nice sip of water from the lake. The bush beside her rustled, and she smelled a mouse, but kept padding on, leading the patrol. Her paws lightened up when the trees began to fade away the lake-scent was in the air.
She sped up her pace as the grass became sandy. She came to the bank, the yellow-white sand burning hot under her paw pads. The deputy drank the icy water, it tasted better than a juicy vole in leaf-bare. Her energy seemed to expand, and she sat up, waiting for Greystripe and Lionblaze to finish.
"Will you hurry up before you drink up the whole lake?"
The two rolled their eyes and stopped. Berrynose stalked ahead, the other three warrior rushing to catch up. "Will you slow down? You're not even leading the patrol," Lionblaze argued, Berrynose squinted at him, despising him. Squirrelflight stepped ahead and shouldered the creme warrior, snapping him back to the patrol. "C'mon you mouse-brains," she mewed playfully.

As they approached the WindClan boarder, something caught the ginger she-cats eye. A darker spot on a hillside, half-covered by a thick patch of heather. She glanced over, squinting in the strong light. Is that a tunnel entrance? She thought, all of a sudden, her head hit something rough and solid. She turned. A tree. She blushed and felt her fur become hot with embarrassment, "Did you forget that trees were solid, Squirrelflight?" Berrynose mocked, his smug smile made her mad and she hurried on.

CHAPTER TWO

"All cats of ThunderClan old enough to catch their own prey, gather below me for an important Clan meeting," Bramblestars summon made the ginger she-cat awake from here shortened nap. Sitting up, she quickly washed herself and dashed out. The sky was streaked with crimson, daisy-yellow and orange like a leaf in leaf-fall. Bramblestar stood on highledge, his amber eyes blazing like a wildfire. Squirrelflight's heart skipped a beat, he looked so handsome at the moment.

"Lilypaw, step up," he jumped off the ledge, meeting the apprentice in the middle of the clearing. "Squirrelflight has taught you well and she approves that you will be made a warrior. Lilypaw, do you promise to uphold and represent the warrior code and your Clan, even if it coats your life?" There was a brief silence before the she-cat answered sternly.
"I do,"
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give your warrior name. From this moment on you shall be called Lilypelt, in honor of Sorreltails mother, Willowpelt," the Clan cheered her new name and Squirrelflight felt proud of her well-trained apprentice. Bramblestar turned back to his Clan, "If now is not a good time for a feast, then there will never be one. Let us feast in honer of our newest warrior!"

The Clan roared with excitement and began getting fresh-kill from the pile, all trying to sit close to Lilypelt. But the ginger deputy had a privet message for Bramblestar. She pulled him aside from his vole and under highledge.

"What is it, Squirrelflight? Did you not like the name I chose for her? I thought it-" she cut him off, not wanting the tabby to finish, "No, I love the name. It's about.. Um... The tunnels," she stammered. Curiosity and suspicion mingled in his amber eyes. The leader urged her to go on, "I think I saw one- close to WindClan boarder. It was hard to tell, it was really bright," she said and purposely left out the part about solid trees.

"Hmm... We'll see if really a tunnel tomorrow. I'll tell Jayfeather. Meet us at Sky Oak at sunset, don't tell anyone," he ordered sternly. She nodded and went to celebrate with her Clanmates.

CHAPTER THREE
SQUIRRELFLIGHT POV

I raced through the forest. Long shadows covered the ground and tall ash trees blurred by me. It was sunset and I knew that Jayfeather wouldn't be happy if I was late. But so what if he's mad? He should show some respect, I was hunting and actually helping the Clan. I'm pretty sure that blind flea bag couldn't be nice if wanted to.
Finally, I reached the ancient tree. As I predicted, the bind cat was waiting impatiently, while my mate was waiting on a low branch. "Finally! Let's go, all ready. I don't see you two want me to come along, anyways." He muttered.

Soon we we were padding through the tunnel. It had a few twists in it, but no two ways or anything. Tiny drops of water dripped from the ceiling, "Have you two noticed the water?" The handsome tabby tom asked, "Only a blind cat couldn't see that!" I said, getting back a Jayfeather whi growled warning at her. Bramblestar rolled his sweet amber eyes playfully and continued.

Then, there was a v in the path. We all stopped and paused for a moment. "We split up. Me and Jayfeather will go this way, Squirrelflight, you go the other way," I was shocked! Why would my own mate be separating me from him?! Did he not love me!?!! It was unsafe in the first place! "What?! Why?!!" Jayfeather smiled smugly and the tabby continued, "Do you really think you and Jayfeather could cooperate together? No," he said, "if you come across another spilt or it's been a while then come back," he said and padded off to the right with Jayfeather.

I went my why. I walked absently along the path, and soon until I came to a split. It looked like a T. I was surprised, there's more? I thought, maybe if I just look around the corner, I'll see whatever's there, I take a few steps. Large puddles of water liter the ground. Lots of water seeps in from the roof. I turn, scared it might collapse. I start running back the way I came, and realize that puddles are growing rapidly. "I'm under the lake!" I think out loud. A loud smashing sound came from behind me. I didn't have to look to see what it was. I already knew.

All of a sudden, I can see a dark tabby pelt with amber eyes and a grey-blue one with white-clouded blue eyes. "Bramblestar! Jayfeather! It's.. It's.." I didn't have to finish, they knew plenty well. When I made it up really close to were they were, they ran and didn't stop.

We all panted hard as a small light could be seen up ahead. I felt water at my tail, creeping up to my hind legs. "BRAMBLESTAR!" I yelped. I couldn't even hear myself as the water swallowed me. I just barely made it to the top when Bramblestar blocked the exit.

"Bramblestar! What are you doing?!"
"I know you killed Firestar! Your working for the Dark Forest, I know it. Your just a reborn Scourge!" That was last thing I heard before the icy water took me on. It was all true. All of it. Evil was in my blood, my claws. My heart. It tore my heart apart and I could only keep it together by power and evilness.

This was my fate. But I will always haunt Bramblestar in his dreams. He will regret this. All of it. And until he dies, I will live and kill.
