Chapter 1 - Maya

Seventeen years later...

Its raining and thundering,
I'm running but I don't know who from or why, I just kept going but then I come to a halt in front of an unknown figure 3 feet away from me "Who are you!" I shouted! The figured just laughed, an evil laugh when I couldn't see through the rain and his face hiding in the shadow in the dark night. "Maya you need to wake up" I was confused and he repeated my name again.

Then everything turned white as my eyes flutter abit

"Oh Maya~" his husky voice breathing on my ear. I can't help hold back a shiver down my spine when I kept my head buried in my pillow not wanting to get up.

"Maya you have to get up" he says patting my leg as the bed dipped.
I hear his voice close to my ear waking up from that dream again

"Ugh Declan, I was having such a nice dream" I looked up at him with my semi-pissed look with sarcasm but trying not to look at him because I knew I'd get lost in his gorgeous brown eyes.

Yep you heard me right, lost in his gorgeous brown eyes~ I have a tiny crush...ok maybe more than just a crush on my stepbrother. Honestly I never understood how's he my stepbrother but I never questioned it.

"Oh really?" he smirked looking at me, I groaned getting up and going to my closet to change into my clothes. "Was it about me" he playfully asked as I rolled my eyes. Cocky asshole. You wished it was, I went to the bathroom connecting mine and his. "Be down there in ten minutes asshole" I shouted slamming the door in his face.

My heart was beating too fast, leaning against the door and trying to calm my red face thinking about him.

Ugh why does he has to be so annoying but at the same time so dreamy and hot...why did he had to be my stepbrother

I shook my head never understanding this myself. I jumped into the shower to get washing and started humming but can't help go back to thinking of him again.

After blow drying my long blonde hair and brushing it out, I applied some light makeup, mascara and lip gloss. I came out of the bathroom seeing Jae sitting on my bed waiting.

"Finally you took forever" she said sarcastically in her black and gray flannel and Riverdale shirt with a serpant logo on her side pocket with black jeans rip shorts. I rolled my eyes giggling, "Good morning to you too step-sis" I looked over my long mirror checking out my outfit, nodding approvingly.

Jae and I were heading downstairs when I heard murmuring down to the kitchen but stopped when they saw me.

"Hey mom" I went over and gave her a side hug while she's cooking some bacon. "Morning darling" she smiled as I make my way to my dad who's reading the paper to sit. "Hi daddy" I smiled waiting for the best bacons and eggs.

I heard Declan scoffed "Daddy? Aren't you getting too old to be saying that?" He playfully sneered at me when suddenly he chocked on his orange juice when my dad cleared his throat. "There's nothing wrong with her calling me that, she's my little girl always" he smiled looking at the paper. "Hey! What about me?" Jae pouted but could careless since she wants to be viewed as the older sister even though I'm older than Jae by two years.

I laughed when dad said sorry and that he didn't mean to forget her. My phone beeped as I looked down when mom place the plate of bacon and eggs in front of me. A text message came.

Hey I'm driving you and Jae to school, Cole's with me - Noah

I quickly texted back

Ok, see you soon, love you! - Me

My phone dings again

Love you too beautiful <3 - Noah

Someone clears their throat as I looked up seeing Declan across from me looking abit sternly but his expression changes. "So Maya, looking forward to turning 18 in 3 days?" He grabs an apple when I began eating my eggs not wanting to talk about my birthday. Don't get me wrong I love birthdays but I'm not one who likes to talk about me all the time.

"Erm I guess so" I looked down at my plate swirling my eggs around on my plate. My father lifts an eyebrow "You guess? Why you don't seem enthusiastic, you're becoming an adult!" He beamed excitedly putting the paper down while mom gave him his plate too.

"I don't know it just feels different...like something's gonna happen and I'm not prepared for it?" I said it questioningly.

It became very quiet in the kitchen when everyone was looking at eachother when I was about to ask why all of a sudden the quietness when I heard a car horn.

Quickly getting up and kissing both my parents cheek as I ran out with my bag. Out the door I see Noah with his sunglasses on, gray light jacket and black jeans on.

I jumped in the passenger seat while Jae came out and got in the back with Cole rolling her eyes when Cole tried to put his arms around her but she pushed him away. I shook my head thinking to myself

When will he get the hint she's not interested in him?

I looked over at Noah giving him a kiss on the lips when he smiled as I put my seatbelt on but seeing Declan at door but he looked...mad or sad? I stuck out my tongue out at him "See you at school!" I shouted as we drove off
