My Stepbrother Is My Mate?!

Chapter 6 - Maya

What was I thinking!? Kissing my stepbrother was stepping over the line and look at what I've done! I rented to myself in my head.

"Let's forget this ever happened"

His words were stabbing me in the chest and I couldn't shake the feeling off. I went to the bathroom to splash some water on my face clearing the flush and rejection off my face.

I sighed looking at myself in the mirror, it was a long time I was in the bathroom when suddenly the door opened on the other side. I forgot it was connected to his room too which I quickly turned and went in my room slamming the door with my back against it.

I couldn't look at his face or act as if nothing happened. He may be able to but I can't so I grabbed my purse and ran out of my room, down the stairs and out the house. I didn't look back, I don't ever look back when I walk or run away.

I pulled out my cell and texted Noah

Hey babe
What are you up to now?

I waited a few minutes on the side walk 5 minutes away from my house. He didn't answer back which was strange. I  blew out a puff of air when suddenly a car horn was near and I saw it was Jace driving. Wow that car is a beauty! I gaped at it and Jace pulled down his sunglasses chuckling.

"Hey what are you doing out here alone" he asked with his eyebrow quirked up.  

I shrugged looking down not sure what to do or think anymore. Noah been MIA since the awkward silence at school, my stepbrother and I kissed and I'm hurting in the end.

I was so lost in thought I didn't realize Jace was in front of my with his thumb on my cheek wiping away my tears I didn't realize I was crying.

"Hey what's wrong" he asked worriedly and in a hush tone. I looked up and saw his brown eyes staring right into my eyes. I didn't realize how close we were when I heard someone cleared their throat.

I pulled away looking at none other than Declan himself. Standing there with his white tank top on and some black shorts with pockets on the side.

He was stalking towards us but I took Jace hands and ran to his car getting in quick. Jace followed and did the same slamming the car door shut tight. Declan came to my side and knocking on my window screaming at me.

"Maya get out of the damn car now!" He was trying to pull on the car door handle but Jace stomped on it as we drove away quickly! I stared ahead of me ignoring his shouts behind me. I can't face or hear what he might say.

I just know I'll crumble in front of him. We drove for about 10 to 15 minutes of silence when Jace decided to break it. "So are you going to tell me what's going on or what was that when that guy came charging towards us" he asked while watching the road still driving.

I looked over at him "That guy is my stepbrother and honestly I don't want to talk about it" I looked out the window passing by through some stores and now in front of the mall. I looked over at him wondering what are we doing here.

"Um...what are we doing here?" I asked looking him weirdly when he took my hand and looked down at it. "I figured you need something to cheer you up you know? Have some fun at the mall or do you want to go underground in the mall to the arcade?"

He was rubbing his thumb over my hand. I had to pull away, this wasn't right, I had Noah to think about but then I'm thinking he didn't even answer my text over this incident either so the hell with it.

I need some fun and me time...well at least with a friend. I smiled and nodded as we get out of the car heading towards the mall.
