An old couple was asked how they stayed together for so long. They said, "We were born in a time where if something was broken we fixed it, not throw it away." This is a good metaphor for most people. Sometimes when we break a bowl we can try to fix it multiple ways, but maybe we can't. Maybe we don't know how. Maybe we need help. You could throw they bowl away in. The trash where it never gets fixed and go get another bowl. Or you could give the pieces to someone else and let them fix it. You may or may not get your bowl back but at least it will be fixed.
