Open your eyes, I'm right here
I love you, always ready.
Always waiting, my heart longs for you
Don't worry, cast aside that nervous feel
You have me
Numb, you didn't know how it came or why you were feeling that way. Anxious, your head was a messed up disaster crammed full of stuff you were studying for a college exam coming up tomorrow. Worried, you couldn't calm your heart that was making you feel horrible, worse than being dressed as a potato on Halloween. Around your desk were stacks of papers messily laid out everywhere and scribbled notes on them that you were memorizing all day, all week. Beside you was your third cup of coffee of the day and your laptop had a Power Point presentation of the lectures you had this month. Your (h/c) hair was tied up in a messy bun and you bit the edge of your pencil and tried memorizing the notes again, softly mumbling them to yourself as you tried not to mess everything up again. Passing this exam would mean the money your parents had forked up for this course will not be in vain and you would never have to worry about re-sitting the exam again. As stressful as it sounds, you tried your best, focusing your mind solely on your current task at hand.
Little did you know, you being really concentrated and constantly busy had quite a different impact on a certain someone living with you.
A tall boy with messy black hair and a red hoodie leaned at the doorframe to your room, observing you from a distance with a worried expression. You had been neglecting him due to your work and because of all the stress, you couldn't find the fun and the same sweet feeling you had whenever he tried to hug or comfort you; making him feel slightly hurt but understanding the importance of your work. He sighed, fighting the urge to come up to and check on you, seeing that you tiredly yawned and rubbed your eyes, stretched and taking your sip of your coffee before going back to work. Sensing that you weren't going to be noticing him anytime soon, he sighed sadly and left. Kuroo decided to call his old childhood friend and his most precious volleyball teammate Kenma, to pass the time and also partly because he missed the pudding head. The boy's phone dialed and 30 minutes later ( typical Kenma ), he answered.
"Isn't it a bit too late for any more of your bullshit? " The pudding head groaned from the other end.
Kuroo, knowing that Kenma does not have the word ' sleep ' in his vocabulary, replied. "Don't lie to me; you would never touch the bed whenever I'm not around. Put the console down, you and I need to talk. "
Feeling defeated and wondering if Kuroo was psychic, he placed the console down and muted the video game in front of him. Kenma leaned back on his black swivel chair and focused his attention to his longtime friend, taking his black hair with his previously blonde tips at the end out of a small ponytail. "Alright, spill it before I lose my cool. "
"Don't be surprised, it's about (f/n). " Kuroo told him.
"Your girlfriend, right?" He replied, unfazed. "What happened this time?"
"She's really engrossed on studying for a college exam and becoming so stressed out to the point she doesn't even remember when we last hung out. I began to notice small changes in her – her body's getting weaker, I found strands of white hair and speaking of hair, she's losing them a lot because of too much studying. I tried to give her as much time and space to study but I'm not sure if it's a good or a bad thing right now, seeing her in a state like this. She wouldn't even sleep at all and never really having an appetite, I'm worried as heck now, Kenma. "
The pudding head played with his cat that was now curled up on his lap, purring. "How about you try talking to her, or even being a little bit more persistent this time? You know, distracting her. Isn't that what you're always good at? "
" I hope that doesn't backfire and she starts getting mad, thinking that I'm too desperate for attention and love. Is that a risk? "
" You'll never know if you never try, Kuroo. Just chill and take it easy, that girl probably misses you too, who knows. " Kenma said.
Kuroo pondered over what he said and agreed to take his advice. Thanking the pudding head, they hung up and Kuroo sighed heavily, feeling exhausted. Maybe what Kenma told him would work and he knew she needed to come back to reality, one way or another. Watching her slowly waste herself away without even realizing it made him feel bad, thinking that he should be doing something. He looked over at the clock.......
3:30am .
He stood up and headed back to your room, seeing that you were now slumped on the desk, your head resting on your hand. You were so exhausted you didn't even notice Kuroo saving up your documents on your laptop and shutting it down. He then carried you up bridal style and gently placed you on the bed, getting on too and lying down facing you.
He admired your cute features and those beautiful little imperfections on your face, your insecurities you would struggle to hide underneath tons of makeup. He caressed your face and tucked your soft hair behind your ear, staring at you. He leaned in close and placed a kiss on your forehead.
"I love you, (f/n). " He whispered. "I hope you still remember that. I will always be here you. "
Pretty soon, Kuroo had drifted off to sleep, completely oblivious to the fact that you heard him, smiling to yourself and continued sleeping.
Time past, there was nothing else but silence and two bodies entangled in an unbreakable bond. Their hearts now beating as one.
Let time decide our fate, I couldn't care less.
Let me be the one to wipe your tears away and cancel the stress
Now please close your eyes, sleep
By daybreak, just know that I love you,
Wonder if you feel the same for me
