"Have you ever been in love before?"
"No."

That was what he'd said when he and Kita were talking about random stuff during lunch break. He couldn't remember much but as soon as he brought up the topic of love, it made him caught deep into his thoughts throughout the rest of the day. What made him ask about that out of nowhere? He asked himself as he was walking home with his brother down a dark empty street. He paid no attention to Atsumu's ramblings and had his eyes trained down at the ground instead, his footsteps crunching on the concrete road. In this cold December night, Kita's words rang loud and clear in his head.
Have you ever been in love before?
Osamu has never thought about it before, much less wanted to be in a relationship. He was literally the definition of dense and stone cold. He would walk past squealing fangirls without a second glance down the school hallways and had never once attempted fanservice which Atsumu is pretty much known for. But come to think of it, what does it actually feel like to be in love? What do couples do in a relationship? Dating is hard, that he knew and nothing else. As he arrived back home, he made a mental note to start taking notice of anything useful he can find from couples to understand love. To cure his curiosity, maybe this was the only way for him.

The next day after morning practice, he had spotted a commotion in the nearby class and saw a girl eating alone in the hallway. That's strange, he thought, don't girls usually have a ton of friends with them all the time? She had wavy (h/c) hair and (s/c) that was soft and smooth where even he could make out from a distance. Could she be new to this school? He heard his teammates call him from the entrance and he went to join them. In class, he overheard some of the boys having a conversation about the new girl.
"She's always so gloomy and sad, does she have any friends?"
"I doubt that, she looks kinda scary though." One of them said cockily. "I'd prefer a cuter and happier girl, not some random witch in the streets."
"Dang, your taste never changes, man." The other replied as the group of boys burst into laughter. "She's no game that way."
Osamu clenched his fists a little too tightly on his pen and it almost broke. Was this is? Do boys judge girls so much just because of preference? Do they even know who she was? Heck, have they even tried talking to her before they start judging? Such dickheads! He wanted to punch them in the face but figured that the best solution right now......he gulped......was to confront the girl. He was nervous, of course, but curious.
About what it's like to fall in love.

That day, he saw the same girl sitting under a tree and reading a novel. She was so engrossed in it that she seemed oblivious to the outside world. Honestly, she does look cute even with those round glasses on. It's not everyday you see a girl like her sitting alone and reading. Under normal circumstances, there would be girls in the hallways gossiping and squealing whenever a cute guy walks by and they would attempt to follow him around. Creepy, right? But not today. In front of his eyes was a girl that does not have any friends, is not popular and is not even considered pretty, according to most students. Her grades were on the average line and she wasn't interested in things that girls normally would be. So who exactly is she?
