Chapter twelve

tired just plain tired.

“OK, you’re right we should spilt up, it’d make it a whole lot easier to find the roses,” Kaydon

said as Anthony put me on my feet. “I agree, like I said beforeeeee.” I said, saying the word “before,”

longer than I should. “Okay, than, Anthony and Kat, should be together, me, Kaydon and Sabrina

together,” Mike decided, pointing his finger at his chin, I feel so exhausted, like I was a cell phone

about to die from lack of energy, what I would do for a nap. I leaned my head onto Anthony’s upper

arm (considering I’m too short to put my head on his shoulder) and closed my eyes, letting my

exhaustion take over, feeling every single one of my limbs turning semi-numb. My mind wandered,

flickering to the scene with the carousel with the evil talking horses. All of a sudden the scene faded

to a gloomy room, with my back against a soft luscious deep purple bed, and Ellie leaning over me,

holding me close and moving his lips softly on mine, so wanting, so loving, so… Oh Goodness!

Snap out of it! Ellie is not for you, I’m with Anthony, and Anthony is good. My eyes fluttered open and

everyone was gone, well everyone but Anthony. “Hey, so tired that you can fall asleep on your feet?”

he asked and pulled me into his arms. They felt so warm and safe, I felt protected. Unlike with Ellie,

I felt good yeah, but there’s this tingling feeling, like ice touching my skin. Anthony chuckled, “don’t

tell me you fell asleep… again.” I snapped my head back to look at him, sending daggers through

my eyes. “Let’s go, we don’t have much time to get the rest of the roses and scram.” he said, his

face falling to a grim mask. “OK, to the Behemoth?” I asked, hooking my thumb to point behind me.

A huge orange and yellow beast of a rollercoaster stood behind us, with a huge metal sign

illuminated in front of the waiting area. “alright, race yeah there!” Anthony yelled laughing as he

sprinted full speed to the roller coaster. Damn that boy is fast, did I tell you he was best on the track

team four years straight. I shook my head laughing and ran after him, A bright light twinkled in the

corner of my eye. And at the top of the huge rollercoaster was a bright red rose stuck on the tracks.

“That’s it!” I laughed and yelled at Anthony, “It’s up there!” I shouted before sprinting as fast as I

could up the cement stairs on the way to the rollercoaster platform and hopped into a seat. “That

doesn’t look safe,” Anthony whimpered, as he halted to a stop at the gates to the cart. “You’ll be

fine, let’s go!” I said, a little frustrated. Why does he have to be such a scare-dy cat. I chuckled as I

held my hand out for him, which he took none to eagerly and sat down, pushing the orange restraint

bar down. “Let’s do this,” he said his hand shaking furiously as he moved his glasses up his

forehead to wipe his eyes of sweat that beaded down his face, and put them back on. “Go!” I yelled,

and the rollercoaster cart lurched forward. I smiled, get the rose then enjoy, I’ll be okay, I thought but

that was far from the truth.
