Chapter 31 - Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You by Frankie Valli
Lisa's POV
It's been a week since my 'talk' with Jennie. Yeah. And no. I heard nothing from her.
It's like there are cricket sounds on the line of communication of Jennie and I. All you can hear are the crickets cricketing.
I'm just glad that I'm having these meetings with other magazines too. Some potential clients here in New York.
I can definitely take this opportunity in building my clientele here. I'll also take tonight's chance to meet other big people tonight for Anna's farewell party and Jennie's promotion party.
Anna. She invited me. I hoped Jennie could've done that.
I sighed. I bet I won't even have time to talk to her tonight. She will be all over the place receiving congratulations from people that doesn't even know her.
Yup. Tonight will just be for business and business only.
I was startled when my phone started ringing. I've checked it and there's a FaceTime call from Rosé.
I smiled. Maybe my best friend felt that I needed someone to talk to. I answered the call.
"Hey, Chip." My smile got cheekier seeing her face.
"Hey, monkey. How was New York?" She greeted cheerfully.
"Uhmm, fine. I guess." I shrugged lightly.
"Oh, so. There might be some 'fine' development on, I don't know. Your dating life perhaps? There in New York? Hmm?" She's wiggling her eyebrows at me. I shook my head at her smooth attempt in knowing if Jennie and I are together or something.
"By fine I mean, the business is doing fine, yeah. But on other aspects of my life, I guess. It's still kinda shaky. Oh, blurry and unsure I might say."
"What? So nothing still happened with you and Jennie after cuddling here in our guest room? Why are you being so slow?" Okay. I didn't expected my best friend to just get it all out there.
It felt like she's as frustrated as I am.
"Wait. You saw us cuddling? What? How? I mean-."
"Oh sshh. Jisoo saw you both and I might've taken a shot or two. You two looked very cozy to be honest. WHY. ARE. YOU. STILL. NOT. TOGETHER?!"
"Easy there, mama bear. I just you know, maybe it's time to just let things go. We're both busy. We live on the different parts of the world to which I'll be going back to tomorrow. That's it. I guess, life just happens."
"You know Lisa, you are both idiots. None of you ever had a relationship or any randoms right? Jisoo told me, Jennie hasn't told her anything and Jennie tells Jisoo EVERYTHING. You hadn't had any either right? Or are you just not telling me things now?"
"Rosie, you're the only one who forgot to tell me Jisoo and you had gotten together. Yeah, I didn't messed with anyone." I said smirking.
"Oh, boo hoo. This isn't about me, okay? So again, being busy isn't a reason you both haven't had sex with someone else. Nobody's stopped you both before. So, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU STILL NOT TOGETHER?"
I closed my eyes as my best friend finished her rambling with a loud voice asking why we are still not together.
"It just got complicated, I guess."
"Un-complicate it then. You still got a day before your flight back to Thailand. Manoban, hey. Focus on what I'm saying. You're attention span is getting worse, I swear to god. Anyways, why don't you at least ask her out for dinner. Dang. Make a whole day itinerary like what you've done in Phuket."
