J U P I T E RI didn't realise the time passed by quickly until I saw it was ten and outside is pitch black. Daisy brought some wine for us and we've being conversing nonstop. There was a lot to catch up with and I was very glad to know all of it. She informed me about her new surname which was Flores and how her adopted parents were finally arrested for abusing and neglecting their children. Jenna, her adopted sister was admitted into a mental institution and has bring there since. She was soon going to be released for good behavior but Daisy wants nothing to do with her. I don't blame her though.
I also learnt that one of our close friends, Abigail and Korbin, the geeky nerd of our grade in high school got married a year ago and moved to France. I was delighted to know these high school sweethearts got together and are still going strong. As for Daisy, she refused to reveal her personal life to me. All I got was she was still single and liked it that way which was unbelievable. I suspect she's still seeing Zack Alan Hudson, a jock back in high school because every time I mentioned him, she either blush or change the topic.
We also talked about our other classmates and where they are now. The only topic she didn't dare to bring was Eric. I heeded that she was careful when it comes to his friends and never mentioned him as one of the people she hung out with. It was obvious, however they are still good friends because she hangs out with all his other friends.
While we were talking, I silently called for an Uber. The Uber had arrived four minutes ago and I don't want to delay him any longer. If I carry on this conversation, I might end up staying the night.
"Daisy, I would love to continue this conversation but it's getting late. My apartment is more than half an hour away. Maybe we should catch up some time, right?" I dropped the cup of wine and stood up from the sofa. I adjusted my shirt and picked up my bag, watching Daisy as she put the bottle of wine away.
"I almost forgot about that Maybe I should take you home since I have a car." She kindly offered. I would love to say yes but I didn't want to let her know I live with Eric and his girlfriend. It would be weird for her to understand and I'll have to go through a series of interrogation before she does.
Daisy open her mouth to talk but was interrupted when we heard the dangling of keys as someone attempts to open the door. Daisy and I stared at each other, confused. We stood there, our eyes fixed on the door waiting for someone to barge in.
The door opens and a long leg strode inside. A tall, muscular man with dark brown ruffled hair and a low stubble across his face appeared with confusion mirroring ours. He was clad in a dark blue suit, his tie undone and the jacket dangling in one arm. His beautiful, soft brown eyes assessed between the two of us probably wondering why we were staring at him like that. An instant recognition hit me and I looked between the two of them.
"Jupiter?" his deep voice uttered as he walked towards Daisy, rounding the sofa and approaching her while his eyes still on me. I nodded suddenly nervous, standing before my ex boyfriend's best friend.
"Zack, it's. . . you. Wow, it's being a very long time" I said, trying to sound composed. Daisy refused to meet my eyes and kept her glare on Zack who was oblivious or rather, ignored the glare.
"That's nice. I'm glad you came back for your best friend. She wouldn't stop talking about you even after right years. Good to see you again, Jupiter." He calmly said before he turned back to Daisy. I had to turn away when he grabbed the back of her head and pulled her to his face for a very passionate kiss. I guess my best friend lied about her relationship status and damn does she got a lot to explain.
"What are you doing here and why do you have my extra keys?" Daisy whispered but within earshot, her voice expressing frustration. Zack shrugged effortlessly. "I'll see you in bed, love but for now, take your time and enjoy with your best friend. The rest of the night belongs to me," He murmured against her cheeks before letting go. Winking at me and throwing me a thumbs up, he left us in a deafening silence.
"Are we going to pretend that didn't happen because I'm definitely not going to say yes." I declared as we strolled towards the door. We went outside and Daisy closed the door behind us. The cold wind hit us and I began rub my shoulders. "I thought you said you're single?"
Daisy rolled her eyes. "Just give up already. That's a story for another day. I want you to keep in mind that I'm though. And by the way, I want to invite you to Hazel's eighth birthday tomorrow. She's Zack's niece and she means a lot to me. Tell me where you live and I'll come pick you up."
Funny how she refused to admit she's in a relationship with Zack and then deciding to attend his niece birthday. Daisy can be weird sometimes. "No. I think it's better if you just tell me the address because I've got a lot of shit to do but I promise I'll squeeze my time to come for you." If I give her the address, she might end up finding out about my little secret.
We made it to the end of the street where the car was parked and the Uber waiting for me. "Alright I'll text you the address." She said before we hugged for the last time. Nodding my head in response, I got inside the car. I watched through the window as Daisy waves at me until she disappeared as the car sped away. I'm as happy as a clam to still have my best friend on my side.

The door was unlocked when I arrived back at the apartment. I didn't hesitate to push open to door with my heart in my mouth. I was scared of catching the two of them while they're going at it. Eric would like to torture me by intentionally making me walk on them.
But it wasn't anything like that. Eric was sitting on the couch with a laptop on the table and piles files everywhere with his glasses perched on the bridge of his nose and holding a cup of coffee when I walked in. Amy was in the kitchen preparing God knows what but I could tell she had being sitting next to Eric because of the fashion magazines next to him and some girly show on the TV. When they both saw me, they halted in all their activities and I refused to meet Eric's gaze.
"Where have you being, Jupiter? I've tried calling you but you didn't pick up. I hope everything is fine and has nothing to do with us." Amy said as she walked towards me, a concerned look plastered on her face.
I couldn't help but smile at her sympathy for me. "I'm fine, I went to visit my best friend and we caught up. We didn't perceive the time went by quickly. I'm going to bed early because I'm worn out." I faked a yawn to emphasize it. Truth be told, I just don't want to spend my time with my ex and his fiancée going on full PDA.
"What about dinner?"
"I'm satiated." Daisy made sure of that. Amy had no other choice but to let me go. "Alright Jupiter, go and rest please. We'll talk tomorrow about the dates of the photography, okay?" Amy said smiling.
I nodded my head before walking away. Just when I entered my room about to shut the door, my gaze collided with his dark ones. My heart leapt in my chest when I saw the intensity of it. They were hooded and calculating as though trying to unravel my deep seated memories and burn down my soul from potency of it. I averted my eyes and quickly shut the door and leaned against it.
I don't know how I'm going to survive this journey.
