Chapter 6: The Chew

    The final applause closed out the show and the hosts stayed around for a bit to take pictures and sign autographs, the crowd seemed to congregate around Maverick and Amara, he always seemed to end up by her side. Security finally pulled them away from the fans and they were ushered backstage to the applause of the staff. They all separated to get un-glamed for the after show debrief, Amara changed into her sweats but left the makeup on for the sake of time and headed to the meeting room. The entire cast and team Augustus were already set in the room, Nonnie and Maverick was speaking to a pretty, familiar brunette, Amara quickly placed her as the girl who had asked her for instructions, she wasn't aware she had come with Maverick. Jamie took control of the room and started the debrief

"Thank you so much for coming, I know this was last minute and we should have contacted you months ago but you were both so amazing, listen if being a very successful chef/restaurant owner ever gets boring, you've got a job here...better yet both you and Nonnie can get your own show, the ratings would be astonishing"

Maverick smile was broad enough for his dimples to pop out and his eyes to shine

"I'm flattered, but telling my family I would be on one show created a disgusting amount of turbulence, becoming an actual television show will lead to complete anarchy"

"Bring them along, it could be a family show...better yet a reality show about the life of the racially diverse Augustus-Seong family.... Amara could host the reunions/after show, people loved your chemistry"

Rebel who had been closest to Maverick tapped him and whispered

"She's got her producers hat on, better shut her down before she contacts the network and pitches the idea"

"Trust me, the show wouldn't make it, we are not as interesting as we seem"

"Alright maybe a show is too much to soon, what about a two hour-four part series?"

The flicker of hesitation on Mavericks face was enough for Jamie to slide in

"I'll talk to the network and reach out to your publicist, alright lets talk about the live numbers"

She slyly turned the conversation back to the rest of the debrief, Amara tuned out all the talk about numbers, hashtags and retweets. Her mind was still stuck on what Jamie had said "they loved your chemistry". What bloody chemistry, she spent the whole show avoiding him, Amara refuses to accept accolades because the audience liked her proximity to Maverick. The debrief finally pulled to a close and Jamie exited while dancing on sunshine, the Augustus clan were on their way out when Nonnie pulled Maverick to a stop

"I almost forgot, we shut down Baek to throw Maverick a little get together for his first time on TV, I hope you guys can make it"

Kit silently perked up, a chance to be around Maverick in a non-formal setting may be just what she needs.

The celebrant himself sighed and pushed his hair off his forehead before speaking

"considering the fact that they...."

He pointed to In-Ha and Nonnie

"are in charge, I apologize in advance"

Rebel, Nolle and Kit excitedly agreed but Arsinoë couldn't make it, everyone turned to Amara who offered a polite smile before turning it down

"Unfortunately I have dinner plans but next time I'll be the first one there"

Nonnie nodded at their responses before messing with her son's hair causing him to pull his head away

"I'll hold you up to that promise because my little baby could use all the support he can get, he was so nervous about the show"

A light blush caused by embarrassment sat on Mavericks face as he face palmed and shook his head
