As we sat around the lake, staring hard towards the civilization, trying to squint through the dark cover of trees and have a peek at what lied beyond, Vasila made a remark at Avril for not leaving the two of us alone. "I don't want to. Not for these days. Lazira had always been reckless and you can never control her. Now that it's the ceremonial days, she'll try to run off from here. I'm not going to let her."
"You do realise that I can beat you in a dual and then run away?"
"Doesn't matter.", he stopped for a while. "Plus, we don't know what's about to come."
I saw the sadness flash in both of their eyes. I had always laughed about it. They teased me. Zahhak was said to have bled snakes and rats. I might too. "Do you remember how we used to steal the crystal balls from teachers' staff room and show them as your homework for the next day?"
They laughed and then, reminded me how they would use magic on our palmistry teacher and confuse him. This went on for a while. Enough for us to lose track of time.
As we saw the sun setting, we grew quiet. "What do you think will happen?", asked Adril.
"Well, I don't have an idea as of yet, but I promise you it'll surely be dramatic. Do you think I should sing an aria as I take a leap in Vasila's arms?" I tried to laugh but none of them reciprocated it. I had joked about it enough. I was raised by my grandmother all my life. Mother had to go with the witches' clan along with others from our tribe. Whenever the topic was brought up, I would never know what to say about it so I kept joking about it. This may probably be the only reason I'm glad for the climax.
