Ya know what, feel free to comment names for Snivy! I was thinking of naming him the Great Devourer for comedic purposes, but then again I'm thinking that would be a better name for one of Garmadon's Pokemon. I don't know!
For you following me on my announcement board/blog, you already know what this chapter is. For those weirded out by the concept, this is kind of a canon thing in the Pokemon Universe. I'll explain it next chapter.
Third POV
The now four trainers all sat in the flying taxi, the giant Corviknight holding onto it, careful not to drop.
Since Kai and Nya's Pokemon were too large to fit in such a small space, they had to keep them inside their Pokeballs.
Meanwhile, Wisp, Candy and Snivy were all playing around. Wisp was laying on Nya's lap, who sat next to a frozen Jay, while Candy and Snivy both sat down on Lloyd, one on his lap and the other on his shoulder.
"So, wanna tackle Cole first? He's an easy one," Nya said. "He's on his last days anyways..." she mumbled under her breath.
"What do you mean?" said Lloyd.
"Well, he doesn't really want to be a Gym Leader anymore. I think his dad will take over or something. Right Jay?"
She looked at Jay, who was still staring at her with a blank stare. He looked shy and flustered.
"Jay?" she waved a hand in front of his face.
He shook his head quickly, blinking fast. "Oh, yeah, right! Cole. He's... a Gym Leader."
Nya and Lloyd facepalmed while Kai gave him a glare.
"We're going to need some items if you're going to be facing him so soon. Are there any PokeMarts nearby?" Kai continued for her.
Jay, after finally coming back to reality, pulled out his phone and looked at the map. "Nope, but I may have an idea."
Everyone looked at him weirdly.
"You see, Cyrus Borg has been working on a new piece of technology that allows you to be more in sync with your Pokemon. It apparently gives you some sort of psychic connection and brings you closer to your Pokemon. Maybe we could try that? I mean, coordination is key!"
"Jay, that's stupid," Lloyd said, but he was cut off by none other than Kai.
"He may have a point, you know," he said. "I mean, you are way too weak for any of the Gym Leaders. Something like that could possibly help you."
"His lab is close to Cole's Gym so I think you should be able to get there in time," Nya said to the two.
"But what about you and Kai?"
"Well, we'll need to do some training and stock up on items. We'll just meet you outside of Cole's Gym."
All they could respond with was a nod before they landed, this time right outside the Gym. It was a rather large building, of course having a poster of its muscular Leader on each side of the door. He was posing with his infamous green, 'shiny' Machamp, a four-armed, humanoid Pokemon which was equally as buff as him.
"Are you sure you don't wanna train some more? It's only been a day," said Nya.
"We'll be fine," Jay waved his hand dismissively. "Come on, we found a quick way out, don't be a party pooper."
It only took a glare to make him shut up. "Whatever suits you, I guess."
A tense silence followed.
"Anyways," Kai popped in. "We'll be on our way to try and find a PokeMart. You guys can go ahead and meet Cyrus."
Kai took out one of the Pokeballs from his belt, holding it in his hand. Suddenly, the ball opened and a beam came out of it, slowly forming into the shape of a lion. At last, Pyroar was standing next to them with a fierce stare.
"Come on Flame," Kai got on him, and it didn't take long for Nya to join him. "We'll see you in an hour." And with that, they left.
Jay took Wisp in his arms, sighing. "I screwed that up, huh?"
Lloyd smiled. "Yeah," he said, returning Snivy back in his Pokeball. They started walking through the city, and it didn't take long for Jay to start talking.
"She hates me."
"She doesn't. You just annoy her a little."
"And how does that make it better?"
"It doesn't. She just thinks you're like your dad," he looked down and pet Candy, who happily rested in his arms.
"But I'm not like him. And I'm way cuter than my dad."
"Jay, she only thinks Pokemon are cute. And your dad is like fifty."
"I didn't mean it that way!" he said with a frown. "Let's just keep going..."
He was too amused to stop, but he chose to end his suffering by staying silent. He only smiled at himself, shaking his head. He looked down yet again, seeing Candy trying to reach out her paw to his face. Giving her another grin, he continued walking alongside Jay and Wisp.
Finally, they arrived at the small building. Compared to the huge monstrosity that was Borg Industries, the CEO's workshop was rather simplistic. The door was already half-open, much to their confusion. But when they got in, a loud sound stopped them dead in their track. They went to investigate where the sound was coming from but were instead greeted by a happy Cyrus Borg.
"Sorry about that," he said. "You just caught me on a bad time."
"We can leave if you want to-" Lloyd started, but was immediately interrupted.
"No, no! I wanted your help anyways, now that Pixal isn't here to help me."
"Oh, what do you need help with?"
"Well, you see," he started digging through the stacks of paper and files until he finally found his Pokeball. He took it out and a Pikachu came out of it. It wasn't exactly happy to be there, it looked tired. "I've been trying to work on my bonding experiment, but I can't really watch over the machine with me in it," he gestured at the strange machine in the center of the room, which was basically two glass tubes connected to a few pipes and a control table.
"We can help!" Jay was quick to say.
"Alright, just step into the tube."
Lloyd leaned over and whispered in his ear. "I'm not so sure about this..."
"Come on, it can't be that bad. Come on Wisp!"
"No, no. Pikachu has to be our first test subject," said Cyrus, gesturing at the Pikachu that had already entered the other tube.
He sighed, handing Wisp over to Lloyd. Going into the tube, he couldn't help but smile as the glass door closed.
At first, there was mist. Then there was an explosion. But before Lloyd could reach out to him, the door opened, revealing an empty, broken test tube.
They gasped, and it only took one look at the other one to understand what was going on.
"What?" Jay said.
"Uh..." Lloyd was speechless. He couldn't talk. "We've got a lot to explain..."
