Chapter Three
Naruto woke to the smell of something good. Something that made him jump straight out of bed. He quickly got ready and rushed down the stairs and into the dining room.
He found everyone awake already, everyone but Fuyumi.
"Hey where's Fuyumi-chan?" He questioned as he took a seat at the table.
Kai hummed from his spot.
"She's in the garden meditating. Would you go fetch her for me?"
Naruto nodded and made his way to the door. When he arrived to the garden he was amazed to see all the flowers and plants coated in a thin layer of ice protecting them from the harsh weather.
The early sun rising made them all shimmer ever so slightly. Almost as if they were all glowing.
In the middle of the garden there was a medium sized pond, Fuyumi sat in the middle of it on top of the water.
She looked serene as the sun rose in the distance.
"Hey Fuyumi-chan! Breakfast is ready!" Naruto called
Fuyumi slowly rose from her spot and walked towards Naruto.
"Good morning," she greeted
"Mornin'!" Naruto replied cheerfully.

The three genin sat beside Fuyumi eating as they listened to Kai and Kakashi talking.
"Yesterday you said this was one of the only safe places for foreigners. What did you mean by that?" Kakashi questioned
Kai sighed and Fuyumi's happy demeanor faltered before she got a sort of sad look on her face, a sudden change of moods not missed by the genin beside her.
"The soldiers don't like foreigners coming in fear of them doing something to relinquish the control of their leader over the land. Any foreigner that stayed in one of the hotels would be found dead in the morning," Kai began
"It came to the point where I had to step in. The soldiers know better than to mess with ice style users which is why any foreigner who stays in the village usually stays here," he explained
Fuyumi sighed. "It's been like this ever since Princess Koyuki disappeared and the king died. The new king rules this land with an iron fist,"
There was silence after that and the group finished eating.
"Fuyumi-chan return old man Kishimi's tea kettle and come back so that we can continue your training." Kai said as he handed her the tea kettle.
Fuyumi nodded
Naruto grinned. "We'll come with you, we're docked here for a bit so we might as well explore."

Fuyumi smiled as she walked into the tea shack, it dropped however when she was met with the sight of Jiji on the floor and numerous soldiers surrounding him.
