Carrie's POV
I didn't think it'd be that easy to end up on a date with Tristan! He literally just asked me out so calmly. I just hope Emily is fine with that.
"Ms. Simmons!"
I looked up to see Ms. Rodgers staring at me. Let me tell you, it's hard to take a teacher seriously that looks like she's literally just as old as you.
"I've called on you twice and you didn't answer me! Are you alright?", she asked. I nodded.
"Alright then, would you mind answering the question? When did Bob Marley's death occur?
"1981, Ms. Rodgers, 1981", I replied. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure what class I'm even in anymore. I'm just always talking in my head in every class at this point acting like I understand what's going on.
"Correct! Thank you for your contribution."
You literally asked me for the answer!
"Also I hate how formal Ms. Rodgers sounds, for the love of god, call me Megan when teachers aren't around. I doubt they'd care but just to make sure", she added. I nodded.
She seems extremely laid back. Unlike all the other teachers, she doesn't seem to want to enforce rules or have an amazing reputation. It actually seems like she's trying to befriend the students. Weird.
The bell rung for our next class. I began to pack my stuff and leave. I had chemistry with Emily to go to.
Then, that's when Ms. Rodgers stopped me.
"Hey, can you stop in for a little bit?" she urged me. I nodded and made my way back to my seat.
"No, no, Carrie, let's go somewhere a little less... school, y'know? I mean I already taught you in a boring lecture that you were barely paying attention to, I think that's enough school for today", she said, laughing between words.
"Are you upset at me Ms... I mean Megan?"
"No, not at all", she replied. "I'm used to people sometimes not paying attention. I mean, I am a school teacher in a school full of entitled rich kids. I'm not referring to you, by the way, you've been doing well this week." I gave her a slight smile and a peace sign.
"Well, go on ahead to your other classes and I'll see you afterwards", she adds. I nodded.
My other classes felt like they didn't last very long. I couldn't really pay attention in Chemistry class, regardless of both the teacher and Emily nagging me to pay attention. I was just thinking of what Ms. Rodgers wanted to talk to me about. My classes finally ended and I sprinted out of the room and waited in the hallway.
Soon after Ms. Morgan showed up. She took me for a walk out back and showed me an elevator.
"C'mon, let's go up", she said. I just followed her. As we reached the summit, we saw a beautiful view of the area. We were extremely high in the sky on the roof and I could feel the cool breeze hitting my face. Any higher than this and the air pressure would be nonexistent.
"Well hey, this is the roof. It may not be much, but there's a few skyscrapers around, and the suns going down so I'm not sure what else you could ask for."
"It's beautiful", I said in amazement.
It's really interesting how the simplest things you see everyday can become beauties to look at when they're looked at from different angles. It's the beauty of life.
"Why exactly did you bring me up here, Megan?"
Her eyes just opened wide as if I startled her. I chuckled.
